We just returned home and although we are from the NC coast, it was unseasonably hot for June. There was no breeze. We stayed in a three bedroom unit in the Jasmine Tower. The unit was great. However, if you have small children you will need to rent a cabana at the pool or rent a umbrella on the beach and they are expensive. I have been to a lot of resorts and I have never been to one that did not include shaded areas by the pool without an extra cost. This is why I am giving this resort 3 stars.

I wish I could say our stay at North Beach was relaxing and pleasurable but even the parts that were became overshadowed by multiple issues we experienced. When we arrived and tried to check in at 4, there were lines of people who couldn't check in because the units were not available at the designated check in time. Unfortunately I found out we were in the same situation when I finally made it to the front desk even though we arrived at the designated check in time. When I was told it would be a few more hours, I asked about what we were to do with our things that were already being unloaded. I was told the bell staff would take care of them. That leads us to the next issue. The bell staff became irritated with us for using a cart when our room wasn't ready yet and he said he had nowhere to put it. When I told him the front desk said he would take care of it he said he would put it behind the pool towel stand (which we ended up sitting and watching because it was not a secure area). When he took off with the cart he didn't make sure all items were secure and he wasn't very gentle with our things. Consequently a bag was dropped from the cart that contained a laptop. The employee didn't even realize he's dropped it until another guest pointed it out. As a result, the laptop was damaged. The front office manager worked with us to get that resolved but it could have been avoided and honestly it was handled in a less than timely and attentive manner. Once we got our room situation settled, the night was pretty much a waste. The next day, we started having internet issues that continued for 2 days. We also had a housekeeping staff member come by to collect our trash but told us she had no clean towels. When we asked when we would be able to get some delivered, she informed us it as the end of her shift so she didn't know. Instead of offering to convey the need to someone still on duty, she told us we could wash our own. When I called the front desk to convey my frustration with the internet and housekeeping I was told wifi was complementary so they couldn't guarantee it and they would restore it when they could. I felt that this was just further proof of the unresponsive, and at times downright unfriendly, service that we received. Wifi is advertised as an amenity and whether it is for fee or complementary, it was included in the package. There were also issues with the upkeep of the room. The towel bar fell off the wall multiple times and the maintenance staff never made it to our room before we left even though it was reported by housekeeping. The unit features a pull out sofa bed but the linens provided were a fitted sheet, a scratchy blanket, one pillow and two pillow cases. There were lamps that didn’t work or have working bulbs and the living room TV’s sound went in and out. We had already had so many complaints with less than attentive response that we just gave up on calling attention to these things. All in all, we just felt that the general upkeep was lacking. Of course in the end, the laptop was our biggest issue. It was certainly avoidable but it also could have been handled with more urgency. Had it been my partner's laptop, it would have shut her business down. Had it been my laptop, it would have removed my ability to work remotely which I depend on. The fact that it was our son's laptop should not have caused it to be handled with any less urgency but we were just lucky that it was his and not ours. While we understand that our stay started on a busy holiday at the start of the season, I would just have expected more from such a high end resort.

So far this place has been a disappointment. It's beautiful, it's even clean. However , my experience has been one of dissatisfaction. It's 5:00pm and we have been waiting for our room for over 3 hours. We arrived a little early and was told that the room wasn't going to be ready until 3pm and that they would call when the rooms were clean and ready . They never called. I had to call as we waited. "Over promised and under delivery" is what we received. This formula is poor customer service. I had to call to see if our rooms were ready. They forgot about us. Not happy about this. I expect more from a customer service. Very dissatisfied.

Our room, the pools, and the common areas were dirty. We had problems and delays with check-in. Management was unresponsive to our concerns. Everyone we talked to had similar problems.

My family and I have been staying at North Beach since they opened. This last visit was not so good. The bathroom had mold in the shower, food out on the balcony with mold, coffee in the coffee machine, no towels, no toilet paper, very little cook ware and utensils, all swimming pools were a mess with bugs and dirt floating around, wet bar drinks are way over priced. We addressed all of these issues with the management. The manager on staff informed us that he could not do anything except deduct our weekly stay $165.00. Take in mind we paid around $4000.00 for our room. I informed the manager I will not except his offer. He was very nice and understood. He then informed me that he would have another manager call me to see what they could do. After 2 days went by, I never heard back from another manager. I then called North Beach to discuss our issues. They also informed me that a manager would call me back. I never received a call. This is not the resort we stayed at 3 years ago. I'm not sure we will stay there again. I have stayed at 3 and 4 star resorts that take much better care of their resorts than North Beach.

We just returned from a week at North Beach. It was amazing, mainly too Denise the reservations manager. There was a mix-up with our reservation. Denise handled the problem quickly and professionally. We could not stay at the private home that we had booked, but Denise had took it upon herself to hold a couple of different options for the 11 of us. We were "blown away" by our accommodations and had a wonderful time at North Beach. Thanks again, Denise!!!
