Everything is Temporary - a few lessons from the Grand Canyon. http://www.grandcanyonwriter.com/2016/02/everything-is-temporary.html
Walking along the Colorado River, RM 189 in the Grand Canyon, I see a twisted outcrop of columnar basalt. Pillars of hardened lava protrude right then left, up then down. A stark contrast to the basalt on its sides, tall and ...

what a touching tribute...He looks like a beautiful man. Love the family in front of the picket fence shot, the crumpled car, the nehru jacket, the cooking shots, the music...calling all angels...The applause so perfectly timed. (This reminded me of the father I lost; died four years ago in January and still feels like just last month.) A life lived hugely.

After the election - I sit down and remind myself that this too will pass.
It was election night. Early results were coming in from Rhode Island, South Carolina, New York. I woke up my dog and we went to the pond and sat, watching a storm roll in and listening to redwing blackbirds shout out warning...

I can almost see the cosmos looking at our country's hubristic backwardness, and saying, "They too, shall pass." But thanks Naseem.

I certainly would have been safer had I not gone up that road...
Oregon's first winter storm was predicted to hit yesterday, and oh-boy, you'd think the sky was falling. Portland metro newscasters pulled out all their doomsday-ware: "Up to the minute Doppler Radar," webcams of soon-to-be-s...

Incredible tribute to loss

I used to live in New Mexico and while I miss it all of the time, at least I do not have to miss the green chile taste unique to that special quadrant of the planet. Beer, wine, and the spicy scent of roasted chilies. Anyone who helps, gets wonderful green chile quesadillas, and are sent home with their own zip-lock bag of green heaven. I HIGHLY recommend this farm's chiles. I noticed this year that both Whole Foods and Fred Meyers in the Portland, Oregon area were selling "Hatch" chiles. I tried them out. They could not compare.....
