Excellent app for securing voice calls. And because it uses Wi-Fi or your telco's data plan, calls don't count against your minutes. In fact, you can make international calls to other RedPhone users for free.
Like privacy? Secure your calls for free with RedPhone. It's that simple. R...

I went for a walk in the park this morning and took some pictures with my Android tablet using the stock Google photo app.

"The report from the Constitution Project can declare that torture is incompatible with democracy, but it is equally true that if the President can torture anyone he chooses and then walk away – free to attend baseball games, celebrate his presidential library and pose for the cover of 'Parade' magazine – then you are not living in a real democracy."

As part of its effort to block criminals from getting jobs in border control, U.S. Customs and Border Protection has launched “Operation Lie Busters,” to investigate applicants who use countermeasures to pass polygraph exams,...

I'm trying out a free, open-source secure messaging app called Surespot. It's available for iOS and Android. If you'd care to try it, too, my Surespot user ID is georgemaschke. Feel free to add me as a contact.

I just bought a ticket to hear journalist Glenn Greenwald speak in Amsterdam about his new book, No Place to Hide: Edward Snowden, the NSA, and the U.S. Surveillance State. The event, which is hosted by the John Adams Institute, is scheduled for Tuesday, 20 May at 8PM.

I've been beta testing InfoClick, a program for Mac OS X that helps with searching messages in Apple Mail. It's very fast and allows for searching e-mail in complex ways. I've found it useful for sifting through eight years worth of e-mail at work. InfoClick is now out of beta and is available at the link below. Go to the bottom of that page for a video demonstration.

Don't take the FBI polygraph. You have nothing to gain, and much to lose. The polygraph is nothing more than an interrogational prop in this context, and your "failing" may even be a pre-scripted part of the interrogation plan. The FBI has a deliberate policy of NOT recording polygraph interrogations, freeing their polygraphers to use abusive and manipulative techniques, confident in the knowledge that the suspect (you) will have no way of proving in a court of law what was actually said in the polygraph suite.

You might check whether you are eligible for legal representation by the JAG corps, or if not, whether they can refer you to a local legal aid society.
