The gardens were very peaceful. You felt at ease right after walking through the gated stone wall. The ruins of the church were haunting to look at but still very alluring to gaze at. The castle is amazing with the different periods of decoration and furnishings. The staff were helpful with helping our senior mother up the lift and were both entertaining and knowledgeable of the history.

Not sure of they tour guides name, but he made the show, otherwise it would have been very boring :) gardens are nothing to get excited about. Powerscourt garden is far nicer.

Gardens are lovely, you could do a lot worse just spending the day in them!

Lovely place! For picnics, morning run or weekends bike riding it's just wonderfully, lusciously green and very pleasant overall . Avoca's cafe food is quite exceptional . The only negative side of an outdoor cafe sitting area is that one cannot enjoy it unless is a smoker. Today our lunch was spoiled by the next table with two man ,who were nonstop smoking. We especially enjoy last year (2014) Halloween and Christmas plays in castle.

Worth visiting, but I've seen nicer gardens like Botanic Garden which is for free.

Really nice place, and you can have a healthy walk in the park as well.
