A couple times throughout the year we get together with other wedding professionals in our area to do what is called a styled editorial shoot. These shoots are so much fun because we can work with the other wedding pros we love, joining together to create a look and feel that we may not have the opportunity to do otherwise. This was the case earlier this week when we joined forces with the fabulous pros listed below to create this Modern Coastal Glam Wedding theme.

One of the things that draws our clients to us is the bright vivid style that we use to process our images…but sometimes that style is not for everyone. I always tell our prospective clients that with the photography for your wedding, engagement or special event, it is not so much in how the photographer processes their images, but in how they are able to capture a moment or event. A truly good photographer can work with their client to determine the final look they want for their images through post processing. If you have someone who is skilled in capturing those moments, the end result can be anything you like! This was the case with Jessica and Adam. We are always all about getting to know exactly what our clients want before we begin a session and had discussed with Jessica and Adam how we would get the soft dreamy vintage look they wanted for this session.

If you are a Shadowcatcher follower, you will notice these images look very different than our usual style…. something for everyone! ;o) We are all about making your dream images a reality!

We got to spend a little more time yesterday with Jorge and Aiyanna, the couple who’s story we are following on the journey to their wedding day.

8-30-14 167 days till the wedding day. Skip & Heather follow along with Jorge and Aiyanna to Road Runner Sports in Kearny Mesa

New Shoes for Jorge

By Heather ~ Today we joined Jorge and Aiyanna at Road Runner Sports in Kearny Mesa for some new shoes for Jorge. Aiyanna had texted me in the morning to mention they were going out for some new shoes for Jorge, and there is nothing like the words shoe shopping to get my attention! Unfortunately we had a session scheduled for that time but within minutes of her text that session called to reschedule. This was meant to be!

While at the Prosthesis’s yesterday Randy Whiteside suggested Jorge try out some shoes with less padding in order to give him more stability on his legs. The new feet he got a few weeks ago have more padding than the first set, so a shoe with less padding will provide him with more stability.

The staff at Road Runner sports were very helpful and Jorge went home in a pair of New Balance Minimus shoes that seemed to help gain him more stability when walking.

In a beautiful ceremony at The Crosby Jimmy and Karla tie the knot…. literally! This was the first time I had ever heard the tradition behind the phrase tying the knot. The officiant said that long ago, if a man wanted to propose to his sweetheart he would send her a piece of rope. If she returned the rope with a know tied in it, he knew the answer was yes!

Here are a few of our favorite moments from their day!

OMG… this was so much fun… and so romantic!

We were hired by a romantic at heart, Jeff from Pittsburgh who was coming to San Diego on vacation with his girlfriend. He scheduled a “Private” tour at Stone Brewery. The” private “tour was made up of our friends and my cousin, all of whom had to pretend not to know us. We posed as photographers getting images of the tour for Stone. So….. we took pics of the couple and everyone else throughout the tour, and then after told this couple we needed to get some shots of a couple in the newly remodeled gardens, and they happily offered to be our models. After we did a few shots, we thanked them and walked away. THEN the big moment! Jeff got down on one knee and proposed! The rest of the private tour was hanging out nearby and when she said yes, they all clapped and yelled, it was an amazing moment. I think we all had chills and tears. What a fabulous day!

Wishing you both a Happily Ever After from us all!

Every wedding day is a special one, but when the wedding is one of your team, it is very special indeed! Our assistant and and team Shadow2 photographer Jeanne married her high school sweetheart Jeremy on March 1st! These two are a match made in hevan. Jeremy and Jeanne had their wedding at the Twin Oaks Garden Estates which was the perfect fit for their laid back causal, and natural style.

It was a day filled with love and laughter with family and friends from Lousianna, the couples hometown, and also many amazing wedding professionals that Jeanne had met during her work with us over the past few years. Florist and designer Tanni from Wanna Party worked closely with Jeanne creating the perfect look and feel for the vintage feel they wanted for the wedding. Gayle from a Sparkling Event by Gayle was the couples personal coordinator for the day of and made sure everything ran smoothly. Nan from Classic Filmworks and her daughter Niki captured the day in video, and then we also had from her Shadowcatcher family her work BFF Lori, Skip and me, and then a super surprise, ours and Jeanne’s good work friend Kendra jumped in and volunteered to help too throughout the day!

Although the rain dampened the day, somehow it wasnt a pronlem, in fact, it was perfect for Jeanne! The rain just made the event!

The reception was AH-mazing, with a live band and a DJ as MC, mixed with the unstructured vibe of a Louisana wedding, this party was happening BIG TIME!

This was a day I know all of us will remember, it was so special to us all.

Congratulations again Jeanne & Jeremy! And thank you to both your families for their wonderful hospitality, we all felt so welcomed!

On Saturday our team was down in San Diego in Balboa Park at The Prado for the fabulous wedding of Victoria and Abel. Victoria and Abel were refereed to us by Shadowcatcher Alums Isela and Jay whose wedding we did a few years ago at Los Willows. Victoria chose pinks and ivories as her colors and they blended together beautiful to bring a light romantic feel to the day.

As always we were very inspired by all of the amazing architecture in the park that we were able to use a backgrounds for their images.

Here are some of our favorites that best tell the story of their day ~

Thursday June 25th at Los Willows

On a gorgeous summer day Aurora and Sean said their “I Do’s” This day was filled with so much love and happiness, it was impossible not to get all caught up in it and get teary eyed as well!

Here is the story of Aurora and Sean as told by the fabulous ~ The Wedding Rev — Don Toshach

After being introduced by a friend of a friend, Aurora and Sean ran into each other at the movies. Then they decided to extend the evening by hanging out at a local lounge. There was a strong connection between the two of them, but Sean thought he was getting the brush-off from Aurora when she said she couldn’t give him her number because her new phone was coming in the mail. Fortunately, their military duties often placed them together, and it took some flirting before Aurora to convince Sean that she wasn’t blowing him off. Second date: Mini-golf and go-carts. Then dinner. Then a late movie. They didn’t want the night to end. They fell hard for each other.
After each of them were deployed for a time, upon their return, Sean decided to pop the question to Aurora on a hot air balloon–not realizing that she is terrified of heights! She was shaking from fright more than nerves and shock when he got down on one knee, and then ended up sitting down. The ring box he produced was upside down as well. But a “Yes” was given, and they eventually made it back to terra firma as a newly engaged couple.
This afternoon at Los Willows in Fallbrook, they exchanged vows and rings before a small contingent of family and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Smith looked as smitten with one another as I could imagine they were on their first date. Congrats and best wishes for much happiness and fulfillment, Aurora and Sean

For all of us at Shadowcatcher, we wish you both a happily ever after! Aurora, indeed, you did find your prince charming!

Here are a few of our favorite moments from the day……
