Last year +UCDavis reached a historic milestone of $786 million in research funding, making it the fourth consecutive year that research grants exceeded $700 million. Through additional funding we are able to not only increase research opportunities for undergraduates, graduate and post graduate scholars, but also develop more start-up companies and commercial opportunities for products based on the work done through research. #GoAgs !

UC Davis School of Medicine has joined with more than 60 other medical schools in a pledge to require students to take some form of prescriber education, in line with the newly released Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain, in order to graduate.

The pledge was part of today’s National Rx Drug Abuse and Heroin Summit in Atlanta, Georgia, where President Obama announced a series of actions, including the commitment to improving future physicians’ education, to address the prescription opioid abuse and heroin epidemic.
