We just received a weather update from Don Lynch, Shawnee and Pottawatomie County Emergency Management Director. There is an enhanced risk of severe thunderstorms Friday into Friday Night across parts of Central and Eastern Oklahoma. Thunderstorms from overnight Thursday may be sustained throughout the day Friday with the strongest activity expected to become focused across parts of Eastern Oklahoma into Arkansas later in the day.

One or two clusters of severe storms may evolve Friday through Friday night across parts of our area. Depending on how far north the Warm Front advects, vigorous thunderstorms may develop in Central and Southeastern Oklahoma late Friday afternoon along outflow boundaries left over from the previous storms and the juxtaposition of the cold front/dry line expected to move into our area in the afternoon. The upper air dynamics may support at least isolated supercell development initially. This may be accompanied by a window of opportunity for a tornado or two. Flooding rainfall is also possible across the area.

Remain weather aware tomorrow and listen to local TV, Radio, and NOAA Weather Radio or Internet sources for the latest weather information.
