I would like to send a big thank you out to Tim Boyle for showing up at the council study session. Thank you for filling out your blue card and turning it in. Thank you for proposing that we dream big with the use of our remaining open space in Downtown Mesa, Arizona specifically the SW corner of Mesa Dr and Universtiy (Site 17). I agree. Let's dream big and think of how to create an area that is livable, putting people in down town, and that has amenities for people to enjoy. This should compliment downtown and the neighborhood directly around it. (Also included the agenda for today) #iheartmesa

Interesting conversation today with a few community leaders regarding displacement, gentrification and what defines those words for The MESA-phx metro. What do you think? Thank you LISC for facilitating the conversation. #iheartmesa

PS: I absolutely love Silvia Urrutia. I learn something from her every time I am around her.

President Ray Villa's Word of the day: Faith - Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Also a great song by George Michael)

Thank you to Kirk "Professor" Wooley for the morning joke. Norm Duve made a fun game of naming your favorite tv/movie police officer and would this cop ticket the rotary member (no names mentioned) who parked illegally in the front.

Our Guest today was Chief Michael Dvorak from the City of Mesa Police Department who has been with the department for 29 years. He is a former Mesa Sunrise rotary member. (Yes he IS actually related to Antonín Dvořák)
Thanks for the update on the Mesa Police Department, community policing and neighborhood outreach.

Thank you to Betty and Mike from Inside The Bungalow for hosting us again. Next weds May 3rd, we will meet at the IDEA Museum and will have a tour directly afterwards. We meet every week in Weds at 7am please join us. #MesaSunrise #Rotary

Lots of hype and excitement around the opening of the Dexcom facility on Broadway and Dobson in the Broadway Industrial Complex in the Little Mekong Mesa Business District. The city has a goal of attracting health tech and manufacturing and Dexcom is a very innovative example of that. This was developed on the site of the old Motorola site and will bring 500+ jobs to Mesa.

Hello fellow civically engaged Mesans,

The City of Mesa is looking to fill a few boards and committees by June 1st and I would like to find good people to do so.

If you know good people that can devote a little time to tackling Mesa issues, please have them apply ASAP and then email me with their name and what they applied for. They must live in Mesa.

I would like to fill the boards with complex people who can proactively solve complex problems. Please forward this to forward thinking people who are willing to be bold in making good decisions for the future of our city and are willing to put some power behind our boards and committees. #iheartmesa

Thanks!
