A month from today is my birthday, and I'm writing to ask for a gift. A bit crass, perhaps, but hear me out.
NextVista.org is my little effort to save the world from ignorance, one short, creative video at a time. I've been at this for about six and a half years, and while there's still a lot of ignorance out there, we are helping loads of students and teachers celebrate creative approaches to learning about challenging topics in school, perspectives of young people around the world, and the joy and meaning that come from helping others.
As part of our efforts, we are working on a project to help students near Colima, Mexico, who come from serious to extreme poverty develop skills for their futures. The organization we're working with is Project Amigo, a team that has done amazing things over the past 25 years to help these students get an education. Our work together is to help scholarship students in their program create videos to help other young people around the world with their education. In short, we want these students to create, and thereby understand how much they have to give others.
The birthday gift I request is a donation to this effort. The money won't pay for the trip (that's already covered), but instead, it will help us buy simple cameras and microphones to help them make the kind of fun, educational videos we highlight on our site. Even a small donation of $5 would be great.
So, for my birthday, and as a way to help motivated, positive, and clever youngsters create videos to help others, I ask that you click on the link below and please toss a little our way via the PayPal link.

P.S. If all of this looks especially cool to you, please consider sharing the request with a friend.
