Do you like HISTORY? Do you like Luxury? Do you like TRAINS?
How about some great food? If so you need to check out the Elkhorn Inn & Theatre where your hosts Elisse Jo Goldstein-Clark and Dan Clark make you feel like family from the minute you walk in the doors.
The trains run just across the highway and the 2nd story balcony gives you a "Birdseye" view of all the trains on the Norfolk Southern Corp Norfolk Southern Pocahontas Division tracks between Welch and Bluefield, WV.
What else can do you? How about fishing in the river behind the inn for trout, ATV rides on the Hatfield/McCoy trails which stretch for MILES in the hills and hollows, or even golf on the local course.
The Inn is even reported to be HAUNTED! Can we say a great place for Zak and the Ghost Adventures team to investigate?
Hungry? Chef Dan prepares a wide variety of dishes with influences from around the world! No matter what you select as your entree you will be happily surprised!
I've enjoyed every stay there and I hope to visit again soon!

From my Christmas / New Year's break with +Gene Bowker. Much of the marina at Fernandina is closed off because of the damage from Hurricane Matthew, so the pelicans are enjoying the freedom to hang around the remaining structures without people getting close!

From August of 2016, in Hartwell, GA - this part of the former rail line sits abandoned in what is now just an empty lot/field

This post office looks like it might have once been a bank. So not like a post office to me.

I would love to see this property saved from being turned into some kind of mixed use development. Let's preserve it and refurbish it for future generations to experience the history of the rail transportation that made Terminus into the city of Atlanta!

There's a bear next to the payment drop box. Why not?
