WYFF News 4 Weekend anchor
Introduction

Angela Rodriguez joined the WYFF News 4 family in September 2009 as anchor of the 6pm and 11pm weekend newscasts. When she’s not on the desk, Angela is filling double duty as a reporter, chasing the news out on the streets.

Angela says she caught the TV bug as a young girl when her family became a news story. In 1991, her older brother Eloy Rodriguez Jr., a member of the Army’s elite Delta Force, was killed in combat in the Persian Gulf War. Her brother’s death was only 3 weeks into the War and was the first casualty in Florida. Soon after, Angela’s living room was swarming with local, national and international television crews. NBC’s David Bloom, a local reporter at the time, took Angela by the hand and showed her the inside of a live truck. She watched closely and learned how to tell a story. That experience made a lasting impression. Right then and there, at 11 years old, Angela decided her life mission would be to tell stories.

Angela was raised in Key West, Florida and has family here in the Upstate. After graduating from the University of Miami, she started at the very bottom of the broadcasting business as a writer at WFOR. From there, it was on to Ft. Wayne Indiana, where Angela hopped in front of the camera for her debut as an on-air reporter, a role she loved, even though she hates wearing make-up and suits! Then, her love of barbeque and sweet tea brought her to the Carolinas where she spent three years reporting for WGHP in Greensboro, NC before joining WYFF News 4.

When she’s not at work Angela enjoys having cooking contests with her husband Steven, who she says is the better cook. Nothing makes her happier than a good meal with family and friends. Angela loves the outdoors, so there’s a good chance you may see her getting dragged around the Upstate by her two dogs Blue and Hope.

If you see Angela on the streets make sure and say hello. You can also email her with story ideas and news tips
