One of the #3dprinted   #jewelry items I've been tinkering with.
Full GEAR #necklace & #earrings set.
This one requires some separate hardware but I think I may do some other different #steampunk   versions before I go futuristic with it.
Single color raw prints available through #shapeways or dual color assembled sets with a matching case available here: http://www.makexyz.com/store/maker/necf
This unique jewelry set contains two earrings and a necklace that all come together to form a single gear. Hardware needed.

You can buy factory 2nd solar cells direct from china and wire up panels cheaper than buying. The cells are still efficient even if there is a marr on the glass... the wax block package they come in poses the real challenge.

Remember the fun of hearing about Ingress for the first time and playing the pre-game of acquiring an invite to beta? I really enjoyed the Art-for-Invite and it got my friends hooked as well.
That same excitement over the prospect of "new" is happening as we speak with a rogue social network called Ello.co, albeit without the artistic submissions unfortunately. If someone has some invites, they should consider doing their own art-for-invite thing.... that is after they toss one my way, of course. ;)

#NFC Enabled #3dprinted object roundup.

I have used NFC tags embedded in prints for many different applications and I have some great ideas for future projects. The tags are cheap and survive the temperature of the printing process. The limitations are that of memory per tag and that of NFC adoption in phones... currently apple is not on board for open use.
I would love to hear feedback, similar efforts or ideas for applications.

Some applications I've played with:
*A print of a scan of my friend as she recorded a Johnny Cash cover... the embedded tag is linked to the recording on her reverbnation profile.
*A turntable model with matching records for a DJ. Each record had a tag linked to different tracks from his site.
*Keychains linked to sites to promote a Radio Show, Real Estate Agent and Sports Therapy Professional
*A "ON AIR" table top sign for a radio show with an embedded tag programmed to change the phone state to silent mode.
*Lanyard flair linked to My Service Sites and Community Profiles
*I printed a model of a floppy disc with a tag embedded.... it is a data storage art piece of sorts.

I do love a good #3Dprinting design contest.
2014 Halloween Design Competition-Curiosity Cabinet   A joint project with Brad Haddock This piece is a 3D scan of a clay sculpture. It was part of an art project aimed at applying 3D printing to classical disciplines. This particular sculpture was the model for the pawn in a complete chess set. However, it stands on its own both literally and figuratively.   | Download a 3D printable file for free or get it printed.

I would love to hear feedback from Ingress Agents and your ideas for applications with the current game features... The idea of "cryo storage" of equipment in a physical object via NFC has been tossed around since beta.

Some applications I've played with:  http://imgur.com/a/IUYzw#0

I've added a gallery of 3D designed and printed Ingress stuff for reference. There are also new things added everyday on http://www.thingiverse.com/search/page:1?q=ingress&sa=

You can find your local 3D printer through www.makexyz.com or www.3dhubs.com and they will soon all have this NFC feature available.

Who is excited about carving and #3Dscanning pumpkins this year? I think this time I'll carve a few for a #3Dprinted totem pole design.
