Some pretty awesome things you can do with this.  Please check it out!
Today we are releasing the Media Effects API to the developer channel. This API provides a robust pipeline to compose visual effects onto Hangouts video calls. We've made accessible several fun and configurable visual effects, as well as face and hand tracking, that can be combined in creative ways.

We look forward to the crazy (and useful) things our developer community builds with these new features.

To learn more, check out our documentation, and, as always, we welcome feedback.

Cheers,
-Hangouts Team

A fun new Hangout app.  Make your own effects!
Hello G+!

We are happy to announce a new Hangout app that allows you add drawings on your friend's faces (and your own if you really want) inside a Hangouts video call.  With Draw, you can draw your own effects (like mustaches!) with our pencil and eraser tool or choose from one of our preset stamps.   This has been a personal 20% project +Caio Tenca, +Jay Wong, +Kevin Schmidt and myself have been work on for the last few months and we are looking forward to seeing your in-hangout creations!

Look for Draw under the list of featured Hangout apps or by simply going to:
https://plus.google.com/hangouts/_/?gid=draw

A special thanks to +XTRAPOP  for the amazing set of stamps!

Starting Hangout from your site: suggested invitees

Today we’re updating the Hangouts button that initiates video calls from websites. We’re giving site owners the ability to suggest invitees, so users can quickly start Hangouts with the right set of people. Whether it's your regular team meeting or collaborators on a document, it's now a lot easier to get the right people on the same video call.

Developers like +Lucidchart, +Esna, +Insightly, and myERP are already using the new button. And you can view our updated documentation to try the feature yourself:

Yes!  Been waiting on this.

Hangouts app developers, we are currently tracking a bug where `gapi.hangout.getStartData()` may return `null` in the `gapi.hangout.onApiReady` callback instead of the appropriate value.

We are working on an official fix. In the mean time please wait for both the [gapi.hangout.onAppVisible](https://developers.google.com/+/hangouts/api/gapi.hangout#gapi.hangout.onAppVisible) and `gapi.hangout.onApiReady` events before trying to access `gapi.hangout.getStartData`.

Sorry for the inconvenience! I will update here as I get additional information.

Controls for a more professional broadcast...
Moderate your Hangouts On Air with the new Control Room

When hosting a Hangout On Air, it’s important that you have the tools to create the best experience possible. This includes having the controls to adjust the audio and video levels of your participants so viewers can simply enjoy the show.

Today we’re rolling out the Control Room. Control Room allows the host to manage participants by adjusting their audio levels and hiding or revealing their video. You’ll find it in the sidebar of Hangouts On Air when it comes to your account in the next few days.

We hope this helps you deliver an even more professional broadcast to your audience. Give the Control Room app a try and let us know what you think!
