Natya's very own Krithika Rajagopalan has been named the 2015 Artist-in-Residence at the prestigious Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art, at Shangri La, Honolulu, a center for Islamic arts and culture housed in the former estate of Doris Duke (http://www.shangrilahawaii.org/…/Artists-in-Residence-Prog…/) The DDCF created the residency so that each honored artiste can create a new work while immersing themselves in the beauty of Shangri-La and promote public understanding of Islamic arts and cultures. Krithika has the honor of opening the Mughal Suite with two evening performances, workshops and master classes. She comes together again with collaborator Dipankar Mukherjee, artistic director of Pangea World Theatre, after working on the powerful sold out performance of The Flowering Tree. We are so excited for her and can't wait to see the new Work In Progress! This residency is a great privilege and honor. We are thankful to the Doris Duke Foundation for the opportunity. The music has an original score and is created by Rajkumar Bharathi, ReSound Studios, Sai Shravanam and will be accompanied live by Oud virtuoso Brahim Fribgane.
