Secondly I laughed when a user stated that anything above ISO400 was unusable on an original 7D. There are totally different degrees of unusable and while for a wedding it might not be desirable, when you are shooting High School Football you tend to take what you can get. People need to remember that not all too long ago, you were shooting film and couldn't approach images that some people can get with digital today.
The shot below isn't the greatest. It was with a Canon 7D ISO6400 1/800 f2.8 and a Canon 70-200mm at 80mm (also cropped some and I don't have the most awesome of noise reduction skills)
No, it isn't the greatest and it won't get me in the sports shooters hall of fame but it will work in a newspaper for HS coverage. :-)
Full time I am a Project Engineer with Flushmate in New Hudson, Michigan designing pressurized flush systems for consumer toilets. I’ve been in the engineering arena since 1990. This is my second tour of duty designing toilets and I have also designed various automotive components as well as Automatic Teller Machines and Marine Controls
My second gig is as a freelance photographer shooting Sports, Theater, and Senior Portraits. Most recently I have been shootings high school sports as a stringer for both the Oakland County Press (http://www.miprepzone.com) and for the Tuscola County Advertiser on occasion. I have also done a few college basketball games for the University of Akron Zips and for the Concordia Ann Arbor Cardinals.
I have been married over 20 years now to my wife Mary who is a teacher/principal and have two children Caitlin (11) and Benjamin (9) who frequent these pages as models from time to time.
With the photography and the family, I don’t have an incredible amount of free time however I do like to participate in community theater with The Hartland Players and potentially with The Fowlerville Community Theater in the future.
