Eric Schmidt responds to calls for Google to quit the US chamber of commerce - by kicking the can. The US Chamber of Commerce is a purely parasitic organization; harnessing the goodwill generated by local chambers which actually do useful things, to extract money from large corporations and use that money in service of a pernicious agenda which would substitute the ethics of savings, hard work, and investment, for those of extraction, ponzi schemes, and rent collection. The US Chamber is the AARP or NRA of the corporate world, an organization whose members mostly just stay in out of habit or because it has a monopoly on some minor ancillary benefit. Google is supposed to be a company with a vision, not one which just pays its dues to evil out of habit like your grandparents do. I'm exactly the kind of person who uses far more google services and APIs than most, and I see chamber membership as a direct hit to your core brand. Mr. Schmidt, quit the chamber!
