Wednesday's Tip: Breathe. Deeply. Oxygen is a vital source of life. You may know how to breathe, but are you breathing properly? Most of us don’t breathe properly – we take only shallow breathes and breathe to 1/3 of our lung capacity. Athletes are coached proper breathing techniques to get their best performance. A full breath is one where your lungs are completely filled, your abdomen expands and there’s minimum movement in your shoulders.

What Are the Symptoms of Colorectal Cancer? Precancerous polyps and colorectal cancer don't always cause symptoms, especially at first. You could have polyps or colorectal cancer and not know it. That is why having a screening test is so important.

If you're 50 years old or older, getting a screening test for colorectal cancer could save your life. Here's how—
•Colorectal cancer screening tests can find precancerous polyps so they can be removed before they turn into cancer. In this way, colorectal cancer is prevented.
•Screening tests also can find colorectal cancer early, when treatment often leads to a cure.

I have been hospitalized many times over the last 45 years or so, including three within the last year at Connally Memorial. I believe this to be the best kept secret in Texas. The hospital is small but very well equipped, the staff makes the word exemplary seem inadequate, and as of this last visit the food makes you want to stay longer even if it means suffering the relative indignity of hospital gowns and being awakened every few hours all night, as hospitals seem to enjoy doing no matter where they are. I don't know what change they've made, although I heard vague rumors of a new military trained chef, but whatever it was I heartily approve. The food is outstanding. If you prefer your hospitals dingy and depressing with a morose staff, outdated equipment and stereotypically poor hospital food...avoid Connally Memorial like the plague. Now I think I'll go visit a sick friend. Maybe I'll catch something.

Miranda Green was the most amazing nurse I've ever had anywhere. Sweet, friendly and should be more like her. Give this nurse a raise

Wow. Things are so great at this ER. Apparently a new group of doctors and new nurse ER director who started in fall 2010 have moved this ED into "stellar". The entire visit took less time than the average wait time in diwntown SanAntonio. Apparently, there goal is to bring all patients directly to a bed. No waiting in the lobby for hours!

Brought the wife here cause she started having really bad pains in her arm and side. The staff wasn't mean but they were far from what you should expect. The whole time they looked at her like she was trying to score some pain pills or something, it was ridiculous. The doctor and nurse both acted stuck up and like we were stupid. Anyway, they pushed us on out the door and charged us 500.00. I took the wife to San Antonio to see a doctor there, where they found 3 masses on her back and side where the pain was. Needless to say that I will never come back here ever again.

Ems assumed my wife had a drug overdose and took her to this hospital and they did what ems said, but the truth was she had a stroke. They kept her there all day and did not check for a stroke. They then airlifted her to San Antonio Methodist where they knew right away it was a stroke, but it was too late to save her and she died. This was 5 years ago and it still hurts. This was in the reports I got from Methodist hospital. By the way, she was only 56 years old.

They do have nice staff, but its a weird hospital. i was there twice and the doctor never came behind the curtain see me. I got a prescription and I was like ok and then went home and was back there two days later and the same thing happened. I drove with my daughter in the rain all the way to Seguin where I had gotten good help and the right diagnose and the right prescription. So i wonder why i got a bill in the mail, it was for the doctor who never came in to see me
