we'll provide you with premiums for the following three levels of cover:

Level 1: Fire, Lightning, Explosion, Earthquake, Subsidence (unless there are ongoing structural works).

Level 2: All the Level 1 covers plus; Storm, Flood, Weight of snow, Collision by vehicle or animal, Damage by trees, telegraph poles and/or lamp-posts.

Level 3: All the Level 1 & 2 covers plus; Escape of water, Theft and attempted theft, Riot, violent disorder and acting maliciously.

Empty homes are attractive targets for criminal activities ranging from burglary (where the property is fully or partly furnished) to metal theft, vandalism or arson (whether it’s furnished or not). Escapes of water can run unchecked. Faulty wiring can cause fires. Poor buildings maintenance can lead to water ingress and storm damage. Our comprehensive buildings insurance covers against perils such as storm or flood, escape of water, escape of oil, subsidence/heave/landslip, theft, collision, impact, fire, smoke, lightning, earthquake, malicious damage, accidental damage (AD) to underground services, AD to glass and sanitaryware with added benefits such as alternative accommodation cover as standard and the option to include full AD cover when required.

We also provide contents insurance with optional AD against the above noted perils, with some remarkable additions as standard which include but, are not limited to, the following:
• AD to home entertainment equipment
• AD to mirrors and glass
• Replacement of locks following theft of keys
• Credit card liability following unauthorised use
• Cover for documents
• Legal liability for accidents to domestic staff
• Tenants liability
As before, we also provide optional all risk cover to any personal possessions you may wish to insure.

Whether or not you choose to buy contents cover, buildings insurance or both, you will benefit from Public Liability as standard up to £2,000,000. This is in addition to £5,000 Personal Accident cover as standard on all contents policies.

Heritage buildings often take longer to repair and at a greater cost than modern buildings of a similar size, also there may be an increased involvement in the repair process by the local authority and other conservation bodies. English Heritage and other leading conservation organisations, they understand the demands of insuring properties that are listed or in conservation areas – they insure more Grade 1 listed properties than anyone else.
Our Heritage Flats Policy cover is second to none and includes specialist extensions
• 20% uplift in sum insured to assist in meeting conditions made by the Local Authority as part of Planning (Listed and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, after an insured event.
• £250,000 to cover archaeological costs that may follow an insured event
• £15,000 any one claim for monuments, memorials and statues in the grounds
• Specialist Buildings Valuation included within premium to prevent underinsurance
A normal standard flats policy may not include this cover.

With the weather really taking its toll on the country at the moment, do you know what to do in the event of a claim?

It’s never easy when you experience a loss. With our superior claims service we try to take the stress out of the situation, but there are things that you can do to speed up the process, minimise the disruption and assist with a quick settlement.
• To reduce the amount of damage caused take all reasonable steps to minimise the loss (e.g. turn off the stopcock)
• Advise the appropriate authorities in the event of a loss or damage (e.g. police)
• Be rest assured that the helpline is on hand to help to get things sorted with the minimum of fuss. The helpline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Please notify the Insurer direct and follow any instructions they give in order to prevent any delays.
• In order that the claim investigation process can be completed as speedily as possible, please assist the Insurer whenever possible and always provide contact details as the quickest way to resolve queries is for the insurer to speak to the client.
• In the event of a major incident the Insurer has processes in place to deal with these, meaning they will be able to protectively respond with extra resource to ensure they continue to provide your clients with the support they need.
