Story
Introduction
Studied and worked at Surrey University for many years. Now retired.  A common expression but "Never know how I found the time to go to work".  Much more time to enjoy going out with our dog Dillon.

Surprisingly not many suppliers of parts for oil central heating systems to be found in rural West Sussex. This is the exception. Located next to Hardham Water Works (take the turning off the A29 for the water works, over the level crossing and then first turning left. Just a branch depot but most helpful staff and next day supply from their head office.

Were really nice friendly and helpful staff in this branch. Now have to go to the High Street for nearest branch.

Changed and moved up market under the new management. Good range of beer and good food. However, check opening times as seem to shut early around 8:30 some evenings.

This place has now re-opened under new management for mid summer 2014. They have totally re-freshed the place including re-surfaced the car park. We sat outside for a few drinks and enjoyed the wonderful views from the garden that this place has always had. There now seem to be some self catering accommodation in the old farm buildings nearby. Seemed very welcoming and we had a couple of drinks but not time to eat. Lovely location at foot of downs and popular meet for vintage cars and motorbikes. ================================= Old management left in Feb 2014 and place shutup.

Chris Evans (yes of Radio 2) who bought the pub then soon shut it down and boarded it up has at last sold the Lickfold Inn to someone who wants to run it as a pub! * Brilliant * can't wait till it opens once again - it used to be one of my favourite pubs. The new owners are having to do a lot of building work on it as it has been left to deteriorate and the roof started leaking. Builders burning the midnight oil working till late at night to get the place fit once again. Keep a lookout when passing by as I guess it will open end July or early August by the rate of progress.

The Grove Inn reopened under new management in Summer 2013 Its such a wonderful location for a pub with open views of the South Downs. Dave, the new landlord, has made a point of specialising in real ales from the cask. You normally get a choice from three real ales (occasionally including strong dark ales) unless you are very unlucky and one has run out. Also your larger, Guinness, wine etc. Nice choice of pub food - the burgers are hand made and must be about 8oz. Very tasty. Lovely friendly staff, real ale, good food. Eat outside if the weather permits, in the bar area, or the glazed "garden room" restaurant on the south side. They have a pub dog called "Storm" and seem to welcome well behaved dogs with their owners. Walking distance of Petworth Town and also has a good size car park.
