The head of the #Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of #Congo is in a stable condition after being shot in the chest by unidentified gunmen. In #Swaziland, there’s a legal challenge to strike down a controversial judge who's jailed a magazine editor and human rights lawyer over charges of contempt of court. According to reports in the Times of Swaziland newspaper on Saturday, the law society of Swaziland wants the removal of Judge Mpendulo Simelane, saying his appointment was unlawful and unconstitutional. This could affect the case against Bheki #Makhubu, editor of the Nation magazine and Thulani #Maseko, a human rights lawyer. Both were re-arrested on Wednesday last week. They had previously been held for 20 days after the magazine published a report questioning the arrest of a government vehicle inspector. RFI’s Daniel Finnan spoke to Vuyisile Hlatshwayo, the National Director of the Media Institute of Southern Africa. He says this could actually mean that Makhubu and Maseko will have to spend longer in jail...
