Resolutions Worth Making: on the blog this morning.
Thinking about your resolutions for 2016? Here are some pretty awesome ones for the new year, if I do say so myself. 1. Work Out Regularly. Everyone wants to lose weight for 2016, but here's a secret: that's a terrible resolution. My experience in saying this: losing baby weight two times (one ...

On the blog today: a look at the home office decor and my inspiration for going in this project.
We've looked at the DIYs and the organization, now for the fun little details. That wall color: Van Deusen Blue by Benjamin Moore. I love this color: it's sophisticated but not bland. Dark, rich colors like this totally work in these naturally lit spaces. My secret to saving money on paint: I ...

How we reupholstered the glider... for less than $30.
One of the most last-minute and rewarding aspects of this little office makeover was reupholstering this glider and making pillowcases for the futon cushions. First things first: the fabric. All three fabrics (grey arrows, yellow tribal, blue crosses) are duck cloth from Hobby Lobby.

Over the holidays I had the most wonderful opportunity to makeover a family member's home office. We spent approximately $200 on the entire project and the results are awesome. Here's a little preview: Home Office Makeover. When your work area gets backed up like this it's kind of a dam-effect.

It was an unexpected time for God to speak to me, but a drive in the car on a gloomy January day is as good a place as any, I imagine. NPR on the radio, I expected to hear a report that read something to the effect of too many GOP candidates, climate change, new measures for gun control in light ...

It's our last day touring the Caroline House and we're definitely going out with a bang. These last few rooms are such winners!
It's our final day touring the Caroline House for Christmas and today is definitely my favorite. The library was decorated by Renee Richesin and Joanne Roddam. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 ...

It's Day 4 of the Caroline House Christmas tour and we're in the living room today. Add evergreen to soft bouquets for the holidays. You know I like natural Christmas decor and this bouquet is no exception. The evergreen added to the soft flower arrangement makes it especially wintery without ...

We’re real here: real flawed, real nice, real honest, real forgiving.
Introduction

In the full-time (or even part-time) homemaking world, there is a trend of Pinterest-high standards and a general lack of self forgiveness. Welcome to Crooked Housewife. Makeup, showers, and vacuuming are optional; sincerity is not. I’m striving for greatness with delicious recipes, home projects, and other domestic goodies, but it’s ok if my kitchen doesn’t make it to Better Homes and Gardens. This is a place where shabby meets chic and comfort meets style.

So who am I? I’m a young wife and mother who has moved to Alabama from Northern California and South Carolina before that. I’m extroverted to a fault and I love to laugh. I went to school for writing and publication studies and have done everything from radio broadcasting to managing a dessert shop. I attract awkward (awkward moments, awkward people, awkward gestures) like a magnet and consequently have a never-ending supply of embarrassing stories. My husband, Mr. P, is a mad scientist/doctor and athlete, and my daughters, Little Girl and Nugget, are the apples of my eye. Like I said, I am far from perfect, but because of the grace I experience through Jesus Christ, I find fulfillment and purpose even in light of my own villainous self.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16-17
