Atmospheric pub, in a reputedly haunted 16th-century building, with wall lamps and framed pictures.- Google

Tasty ales, good food (warlock pie is simply epic), cozy and clean. As good as pubs get.

Little traditional Scottish pub. Nothing special but a good location.

Interesting pub history. Service was good, drinks a little on the high side. Didn't try the food.

Very very kind people, nice food If this restaurant is in Paris or Barcelona it might be 3.5 to 4 star, but remember you are in Edinburgh.... Especially the haggis in this restaurant is very good Much batter than what I expected!!!!

Promises more on the outside than it delivers on the inside. Friendly staff, but poor choice of ales, and dated decor.

Just back from a lunch at the Tollbooth and I can't fault it. It's a cosy wee place with a friendly atmosphere and a really tasty and filling steak pie. The food was super quick and perfect for a pub lunch - and the beer (Caley three hop lager) was just right for a Friday afternoon. If you're in that part of town and feeling peckish then it's well worth dropping in.

A fine place to eat or drink, fantastic staff and owner made a weary traveler feel welcome. The local regulars are fine, friendly people that were one of the highlights of my stay on the royal mile. I was very sad to leave this most excellent place, and will surely return. I wish I could give it 6 stars! Do not overlook this excellent establishment.
