I've been here a handful of a times over the years with family for dinner as well as with friends for drinks and it never disappoints. While it isn't my favorite steakhouse in Chicago it is always a solid meal at a better value than most steak joints in the city. To start with the drinks the Knockout martini is a must(much like the Stoli Doli at Capital Grille). It is a clementine vodka that is stored in a jar with pineapple slices where it soaks up with juices. Be careful because these will sneak up on you. I recently tried the Tennessee Mule which replaces the vodka in a Moscow Mule with whiskey and it was a real game changer for me, this will probably be my drink of choice for a few months. The last time I went I found that they have a prix fixe menu where you can choose a starter, soup/salad and a steak. It is a great value for $40-$50 depending on upgrades. I went with the cheesesteak egg roll which was one of my favorite dishes because of the sweet and sour sauce over the very crispy and rich cheesesteak. I then went with the Caesar salad which was very standard(what I expected) and the 12oz New York Strip. The steak was cooked perfectly(medium rare) as I ordered and had a fantastic gorgonzola butter(the meat didn't need it but it was very good). The other nice part of the meal is that you get potatoes with your steak unlike when you order a steak a la carte. Great drinks and great value for a great steak even if you don't get the prix fixe menu, which I strongly suggest.

My favorite steakhouse in Chicago with outstanding service, perfectly cooked meals and the best cocktails in the city! Consistently excellent and our go to spot to reunite with friends when in the city.

My wife and I ate here the evening we were married (8/8/14). It was her idea-and her random steak craving turned into a great memory and a very happy start to life together. First of all, the food was astounding. Steak was exactly as she liked it, medium-rare, just the right amount of pink in the center, and so much flavor. You could tell it was prepared with great care and attention, not mass-produced. I had a cheeseburger, made with beef of equal quality, with fresh and tasty toppings. Our appetizers, etc. were also wonderfully satisfying. The real standout was the SERVICE, which showed even in the little things.. I drink a lot of water, and end up thirsty most of the time in every other restaurant. But here, before I could get to the bottom, my cup was filled again, all through the two hours we were there. Our waitress Miranda was an angel. Because it was our wedding day, she offered us both complimentary desserts of our choosing-we settled on creme brûlée and cheesecake. However, being so full from our dinners, we couldn't eat any more, and so she packed it up for us, along with the macaroni and cheese we couldn't even start. Both proved to be absolutely fantastic when we woke up. The live band was fantastic. My wife and I are both conservatory-trained professional musicians, and live music is often a turnoff for us, because often it sucks. But these guys were tight and knew how to rock without blasting everyone away. The sound was just right-it filled the house, but didn't disrupt conversation or disturb us. When we were ready to go, Miranda took our picture, asked us to wait a minute, and returned with the picture printed in a card that had been signed by all the wait staff, wishing us well. There aren't words enough to describe how well we were treated and how well we ate.

Sullivan's Steakhouse is the "diamond in the rough" of bars found on Dearborn St. As we entered into the location, the smell of calamari and live music from the band caught our noses and ears as we sat at the bar to enjoy a drink and appetizer. An appetizer that was not planned for but with the wonderful smell of calamari--how could one resist? The ambiance was wonderful and bartender Dave was very polite and assisted us with no hesitation as we ordered our drinks and food. He was a nice change of pace compared to our first bartender. Our drinks were good but the calamari--don't leave without trying this dish. It is amazing. This is a great location for an intimate dinner or a small group of friends, I don't see how large parties work here but I was only in the bar area so I cannot confirm. I am looking forward to going back and eating dinner!

Sullivan's is a good place and the food and staff are nice. Like most steakhouses in the city it's just really really expensive. But this place has super nice staff and that's what set it apart for me. Went there with my wife and daughter a couple of years ago and the waiter gave us the crumb scraper which was really cool. Went again last night with friends for my wife's birthday and they let us bring our own cake in and served it to us. Really great and accommodating.

love their steaks! servers/managers are really nice too, and great rewards program. Had the truffle chili encrusted rib eye last time but was too salty and it wasn't before. Will have to try again

The equation for a good steakhouse is straightforward: a solid bone-in rib eye, an extensive wine list (heavy on the reds) and fresh seafood for the surf and turf. Sullivan’s executes this equation with ease and now they’ll wow you with their new seasonal menu. Blowing you away with more than a dozen new dishes, the new menu incorporates two new salads and a number of seafood dishes to keep the menu light and fit for summer. I had an opportunity to taste a number of items from the new menu and the new offerings highlight the depth of the team’s culinary skills and prove this River North staple is more than just a steakhouse. Few things say summer like fresh juicy tomatoes and headlining the summer’s menu is a rustic Heirloom Tomato & Buffalo Mozzarella Salad. Every bit as delicious as you would expect, it’s difficult to imagine a more appropriate way to start dinner.
