I KNOW there's a LOT of steak in Chicago but I prefer Sullivan's. I love the atmosphere, the BIG dining room, excellent music but most of all the New York strip. Excellent wine list and their Private Label is really a standout-not just some low priced everyday offering. Try the SURE THING Prix Fixe. $42.00 three course and just $9.00 to upgrade to a 16oz NY steak. Fresh baked hot bread a real plus as well.

Went here on a Monday nite based on Web recommendations.place was somewhat empty so we sat in lounge area. We ordered drinks and meals. Wedge salad kind of small and blue cheese lacked flavor. The fish I was looking forward to was my calamari appetizer, however came our drenched in ginger orange glaze.tasty but not your usual calamari. Next we waited and waited for our kale salad and 8 Oz. filet. Waitress said a big party was delaying them. Really? Hire staff for party then. At the end of the nite, I've wouldn't recommend.this is a last resort place in Chicago.

Salmon was not good whatsoever and the sides did not look appetizing. Very expensive even for two people and not quality service.

I've been here a handful of a times over the years with family for dinner as well as with friends for drinks and it never disappoints. While it isn't my favorite steakhouse in Chicago it is always a solid meal at a better value than most steak joints in the city. To start with the drinks the Knockout martini is a must(much like the Stoli Doli at Capital Grille). It is a clementine vodka that is stored in a jar with pineapple slices where it soaks up with juices. Be careful because these will sneak up on you. I recently tried the Tennessee Mule which replaces the vodka in a Moscow Mule with whiskey and it was a real game changer for me, this will probably be my drink of choice for a few months. The last time I went I found that they have a prix fixe menu where you can choose a starter, soup/salad and a steak. It is a great value for $40-$50 depending on upgrades. I went with the cheesesteak egg roll which was one of my favorite dishes because of the sweet and sour sauce over the very crispy and rich cheesesteak. I then went with the Caesar salad which was very standard(what I expected) and the 12oz New York Strip. The steak was cooked perfectly(medium rare) as I ordered and had a fantastic gorgonzola butter(the meat didn't need it but it was very good). The other nice part of the meal is that you get potatoes with your steak unlike when you order a steak a la carte. Great drinks and great value for a great steak even if you don't get the prix fixe menu, which I strongly suggest.

Terrible. It's one thing for an employee of an establishment to fall short of expectations, but it's a sad thing when it's the management of a place that likes to show complete disrespect towards people that come in there. The reason people choose to dine out is for service, and when someone is going to insult the people who come into their restaurant, they might as well not even bother being in business. The manager here, Scott I believe he told me his name is, was completely brash and aggresive. Something tells me there's something completely wrong with this place, if that's the way it's being ran. I recommend going to a better steakhouse, such as Tavern on Rush or the new steakhouse that just opened across the street from Tavern (excellent place, but the name slips my mind), where their service is top notch- without prejudice.

Excellent steak. I visited it in 2014 and came back in 2015. Food is a bit pricey but its worth it.

Sullivan's is a good place and the food and staff are nice. Like most steakhouses in the city it's just really really expensive. But this place has super nice staff and that's what set it apart for me. Went there with my wife and daughter a couple of years ago and the waiter gave us the crumb scraper which was really cool. Went again last night with friends for my wife's birthday and they let us bring our own cake in and served it to us. Really great and accommodating.

My wife and I ate here the evening we were married (8/8/14). It was her idea-and her random steak craving turned into a great memory and a very happy start to life together. First of all, the food was astounding. Steak was exactly as she liked it, medium-rare, just the right amount of pink in the center, and so much flavor. You could tell it was prepared with great care and attention, not mass-produced. I had a cheeseburger, made with beef of equal quality, with fresh and tasty toppings. Our appetizers, etc. were also wonderfully satisfying. The real standout was the SERVICE, which showed even in the little things.. I drink a lot of water, and end up thirsty most of the time in every other restaurant. But here, before I could get to the bottom, my cup was filled again, all through the two hours we were there. Our waitress Miranda was an angel. Because it was our wedding day, she offered us both complimentary desserts of our choosing-we settled on creme brûlée and cheesecake. However, being so full from our dinners, we couldn't eat any more, and so she packed it up for us, along with the macaroni and cheese we couldn't even start. Both proved to be absolutely fantastic when we woke up. The live band was fantastic. My wife and I are both conservatory-trained professional musicians, and live music is often a turnoff for us, because often it sucks. But these guys were tight and knew how to rock without blasting everyone away. The sound was just right-it filled the house, but didn't disrupt conversation or disturb us. When we were ready to go, Miranda took our picture, asked us to wait a minute, and returned with the picture printed in a card that had been signed by all the wait staff, wishing us well. There aren't words enough to describe how well we were treated and how well we ate.
