Ladies...I finally got my Big Dummy! But I can't ride it, yet! The posture is way too stretched out and flat for me and it is hurting my back. I'm going back today to try to find better handlebars and a seat! Wish me luck!  Looking forward to posting more "fully loaded" pictures soon!

Yesterday we had a Ciclovia-type event here in Eugene called "Sunday Streets," where a three-mile circuit of city streets was closed to automobiles and there were various events. I volunteered as an "Intersection Super-Hero" for the morning, helping car drivers navigate around or across the course.

After my shift I headed over to the booth of one of our Friendly Local Bike Stores, Arriving By Bike. They specialize in bicycle commuting, especially solutions for carrying cargo and/or children. I've been lusting after a Surly Big Dummy for quite some time, and I finally got the chance to test ride one. Oh, what a smooth ride. I also got to check out some new solutions for carrying multiple children on the back of a long-tail cargo bike, such as stirrups and something called a "rumble strap" that is an alternative to handlebars for a back-passenger kid.

The highlight came when, after I had a couple of test rides with my kids, I got a chance to carry an adult passenger. One of the store employees graciously volunteered to ride on the back. I could barely tell that he was there (of course, this was all on flat streets!). I'm now more in lust with this bike than I ever was.

Last night Lane United Football Club had its first match, a friendly v. Timbers U-23 at South Eugene High School. Our supporters group turned out in force and showed South Eugene a little of what real football support looks like. Thanks to the TA and Northern Alliance who came.

First sock finished! It's roomy. #2 is already coming out much nicer and tighter.

I dropped by my FLGS for some late-night game playing on Friday evening. I played Oltre Mare first and found it to be a fun game with elements of Ticket to Ride, Settlers of Catan, and Alhambra all rolled into a fun and easy to learn package. This game had been won in a raffle by one of the people playing it that evening. We then introduced her to Forbidden Island.

I and one of my tabletopmates that evening bought a couple of games just before midnight, which helped push our FLGS to their best sales day since they opened! FTW.

Progress on First Sock! (First Knitting Project!)
This Fourth of July, I have emancipated myself from my belief that turning a heel would be a scary, scary thing. IT WASN'T THAT BAD. Now for the gusset.
