Really cool atmosphere and good location. Staff was very friendly and food was great. We were very glad we went.

The absolute worst sushi I have ever had. Not only did we not like the sushi, my son and I walked out of there actually feeling ill. I don't think they cooked the eel, which I just read could be dangerous, and the tuna was bad too. Unfortunately, the worst experience I've ever had a restaurant. We'll never be back.

Great sushi and fun atmosphere. Its one over the only sushi restaurants that actually gives you enough food. I always leave the place full.

I am baffled at the bad reviews. I've had sushi all over the county (California included!) and this place is great! It's not TRADITIONAL because it's Nashville, not Japan, but it's delicious. The sashimi was perfect. Fresh, fresh fresh! Every roll I got was brought out fairly quickly and was full of flavor. All the rolls are really creative, great use of tempura and various sauces, and fantastic mixes of flavors I hadn't expected. It's definitely not your typical sushi place, and I guarantee you haven't tried at least half the menu anywhere else. It's a great downtown spot, and parking in the area is about $2. I had a wonderful time and I'll definitely be back!

Overall, this is a treat for us when we visit the Gulch. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is great. However, we've had some experiences where our food wasnt consistent from visit to visit. I'm unsure if that was due to different chefs or daily freshness or what.

Rusan's food is no good. Having tried sushi all over the country and in Japan, I would rate this extremely poor. I tried both "udon noodle soup" and sushi. Will not be willing to give it another try. The udon noodle soup was atrocious. I was unable to finish it, way too salty and the meat was really bad. Why? - poor quality ingredients -will substitute items/leave out if they dont have. I ordered two dishes, ingredients were left out in both and pork was substituted for the chkn. -sauces used for the sushi are way to salty. one tasted a bit like ketchup -they blast loud pop music -cleaning solvents used make me feel a bit ill good points right in the gulch, clean looking place friendly staff

I was very surprised the first time I walked in, the dubstep/euro dance music remixes playing were not the usual atmosphere for a sushi bar. The interior is liked a darkened 50s diner, worn leather booth seats and all. The sushi, while expensive, is good; however, the kitchen has closed multiple times this year for health code violations. That said, I've yet to have a bad experience with the food. Although the service can be slack at times, it's a place worth checking out.

This is my favorite sushi spot. I take friends all the time and then they end up taking their friends. Yes if you go on a weekend night, it's loud and crowded. If you go early or on a week night I find it more pleasant. The loud techno isn't playing and the service is better. Sushi wise, it has such an extensive menu that there is something for everyone. Never had a bad piece. On a couple of occasions something wasn't quite right and they would fix it no problem. I have had their cooked food (when I was pregnant) and that was good too. Wouldn't take the kids on a weekend night but besides that have had great success with taking older kids. They are impressed with all the sea creatures you can eat. Their crab cakes are amazing! And yes I have friends who crave their rice balls. Go and try it!
