Beautiful, industrial style office space.  Check out the glass bottle chandelier, and the vintage green chesterfield sofas.  Inspired!

Just had a great Helpout session with a homeowner looking for flooring and lighting solutions. Was able to give a pretty good amount of information in a short 15 minutes, including screen sharing so I could show her the various company's websites. Even better, I was able to enable a recording of the session through Google, which means she can review everything I said and showed her later, at her convenience.

I could really get to like this system!

Hosting another round of free Sustainable Saturday consultations on February 1st, from 10AM to 12PM PST.

Feel free to sign up and bring your green design questions!

Random fact #7 - I once stood inside the Great Buddha of Kamakura. Did you know it has windows in the back of its head?!?

What was the most surprising thing you learned about a famous site or artwork when you finally visited it?

Random fact #5

When I was a kid, I climbed a new redwood fence my mother had just told me not to climb. Needless to say, I should have listened to her, because I wound up with 40 splinters in each hand!

Anyone else who did something their mother said not to and wound up paying the price?

I've just started offering free sustainable design consultations on Helpouts most Saturdays, from 10AM to 12PM PST.  I used to do this in person several years ago, until the logistics got to be a bit much.  I love getting a chance to help people design more sustainably, even if they can't necessarily afford to hire a designer for their project.

Random fact #4

When it was growing up, parents had a group of friends they would get together and party with on a semi regular basis. I used to sit and chat with a guy named Larry at these get togethers. I don't even remember specifically what we talked about, but I do remember that he was nice enough to not treat me like a kid, and seemed genuinely interested in whatever banality I'm sure I was sharing.

Years later, I read a book called "Ringworld", and realized that the Larry I had been hanging out with at those parties was actually the Hugo Award winning author, Larry Niven.

So, did anyone else grow up around someone "famous", but not realize it until they were much older?

Random fact #3 - I once taught Nanette Fabray how to use a telescope.
