The drive to The Orient is something in itself. Hidden in the countryside just outside Pretoria, The Orient has a certain mystery about it. The Moorish architecture seems out of place here, almost a 3D stamp of a building that’s been placed in a big enough clearing but on the wrong continent entirely. The tall walls hide it’s eclectic decor and imposing structures. Inside, the fascination to explore strikes all who are lucky enough to visit.

My first impressions as we turned the corner into the square that lies before it were of grandeur. The size of the duomo is pretty incredible. The intricacy of the detail on all of its tiers and steeples even more so. We caught the last rays of sun of the day here, radiating off the sandstone texture of the walls, even though the sides were scaffolded over for renovation’s sake. #travel   #italy   #milan

The dirt road is longer than it threatens. A 45-minute drive that twists over the flat land of the Karoo, winding past wire fencing and remote farmlands. The entry into the town isn’t grandiose in any sense. Small, modest houses line the dirt streets here. Little pillboxes waiting in line, mostly well kept in their time warp. It’s not hard to find Helen Martin’s Owl House here, all the roads lead to it, the busiest part of town.

While I feel like I never got to explore #Bangkok as much as I would’ve liked to as a #traveller, one of the highlights for me was basically kidnapping the skipper of the yacht at The Siam and demanding a river cruise down the Chao Phraya River one evening after dinner.

While wine pairings have become commonplace across restaurants and hotels in #SouthAfrica, I’d only heard of a few spots that offered a food and beer pairing and they were usually in the Western Cape. I’ve been wanting to try it out for a while and when SAB World of Beer sent out an invite to join them for their own #food and #beer pairing with food prepared by chef Peter Goffe-Wood, I jumped at the chance.

I can get pretty girly about sparkly things, but my Exclusivity by Design pieces have become a an accessory staple for me!
