Everything the pro-life movement did after Roe v. Wade needs to be done again on this new frontier of marriage. Here are three critical steps to take.

This world needs more selflessness. This world needs more connection. This world needs more love. We can’t learn these behind a screen.

Through a procedure called civil asset forfeiture, law enforcement officials can seize property and money if it’s suspected of being related to a crime.

One thing that this report doesn't seem to take into account is the large population of young, married, college students who have kids. I'm not saying that such a factor negates the findings, nor that they and their children don't or wouldn't benefit from assistance, but that their situation is temporary and the turnover rate for that part of the population is rather high (which is a good thing). It also seems we could do a better job of integrating and assimilating the immigrant community, which wouldn't solve the problem, but would help.

I know the "why" or the "How we got here" with Health Insurance, but I think it is a little silly. If I wanted to buy any other type of service, including car insurance, I can purchase it pretty much whenever I want. If I want a watermelon in January, I can find it. If I want car insurance but haven't lost my job (or have), I can get it whenever I want. But if I want to buy health insurance, I can only do so at Open enrollment, or during a qualifying event...like when I lose coverage or have a baby. But if I lose coverage, I can't just walk down the street to my local Blue Cross or United Health Care Agent, oh no, I have to go to HealthCare.gov (all the individual insurance sites take me there) and I have to input a bunch of my information before I can even see what plans are available. I also can't choose whichever plan I want, I have to wait for someone to call me.

Can you imagine doing car insurance this way? Can you imagine grocery shopping this way? "I'm sorry sir, you're outside the open enrollment period for getting to shop in our grocery store. You'll have to wait till the end of the month after you lost shopping at the other grocery store. When open enrollment or the end of the month comes, then we'll call you."

I made it to the top!!!!!!! After only a measly 2 hours and a few odd minutes, I made it 9.something miles to the top of Guardsman Pass and only had to go down another .8 miles. Made some great friends along the way and felt somewhat justified when I saw even the best runners walking the last few absurdly steep yards to the top.

So what these big companies are saying is that they are afraid of competition and are too lazy to figure out how to sell their products at a competitive price? I thought we generally disliked oligopolies...
Three of the nation's largest contact lens manufacturers call a Utah law banning price fixing a brazen overreach that would give any discount seller in the state an illegal end run around minimum prices set by the companies.

We had to go in on a Saturday right around Christmas time 2012. We were visiting family (we live in Connecticut). The Doctor saw us promptly, checked out my 6 month old, gave him an accurate diagnosis and a prescription to resolve the issue. The total time with the Doctor was maybe 15 minutes, and the time at the counter was even less. The only downside was that we had to wait 30 minutes to see the doctor. That wasn't a deal breaker, since it was a Saturday and they were showing a bowl game, and there was only one Doctor. The place was clean, they had (clean) toys, books, and plenty of other items to keep small children (my 4 year old) entertained. The receptionist/nurse was very professional, and was also cheerful when discussing everything including payment options. The price was fantastic for the visit. Hopefully I won't have to go back whenever I visit Utah, but if I had to go visit a Doctor when in town, this is the place I would go to. They have a very budget friendly membership/copay plan, which helped us keep our costs down.
