He has been so far only identified as "Junior"of Vergenoegen, He was in his 20s. Cocaine busted in Cheese rolls and Pine tarts at CJIA | Guyana Crime Reports A 37-year-old man from Canje, Berbice identified as Nicholas Harrinandan, is in the custody of the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit after he was busted at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport with over 15 pounds of cocaine in cheese rolls, pine tarts, mettai and the false bottom of shoes. Gold Board calls in police to probe tampering at Bartica office | Guyana Crime Reports The Guyana Gold Board(GGB) has shut down its offices in the Bartica sub-district and called in the police to probe allegations of tampering during the purchase of the precious metal, the Natural Resources Ministry said in a statement. Brazilian beaten to death during robbery | Guyana Crime Reports A Brazilian is the latest person to have been killed in one of Guyana’s gold bearing districts during a robbery. Unlike the majority of other robberies in the mining districts in which firearms are used, police said the weapon was a piece of wood. The Guyana Police Force identified the man Joao De Souza, 57, of Five Miles, Arakaka, North West District. Investigators said he was attacked by a man armed with a piece of wood, during a robbery at the same area where he lived. The incident occurred about 8:30 Wednesday night. http://bit.ly/1lFEDAH

Shootout on Essequibo River | Guyana Crime Reports Police are investigating the exchange of gunfire between passengers in a speedboat which apparently targeted another that was proceeding to moor at the Supenaam stelling, Tuesday afternoon. Eight-year-old raped at Port Kaituma | Guyana Crime Reports Police at Port Kaituma have detained a man who allegedly lured an eight-year-old girl with a sweet and then brutally raped her. The incident reportedly took place last Friday at a place called Barama Log Pond, while the child was on her way to school. According to reports, the child’s mother noticed that her clothes were covered with blood, and upon enquiring, the woman was given the gory details of the child’s ordeal at the hands of the suspect, who residents described as a stranger to the community. http://bit.ly/Pub1II
