The award was established in 2007 and former winners include Trenton Thompson (2014 Westover HS - Georgia), Will Grier (2013 Davidson Day School - Florida), Derrick Henry (2012 Yulee HS - Alabama), Noah Spence (2011 Bishop McDevitt HS - Ohio State), Jeff Driskel (2010 Hagerty HS - Florida), Sharif Floyd (2009 George Washington HS - Florida), Jamarkus McFarland (2008 Lufkin HS - Oklahoma) and DeVier Posey (2007 Cincinnati LaSalle HS - Ohio State).

The Maxwell Football Club has been recognizing excellence at all levels of football since 1935 and has a major focus on high school football nationally, while adidas currently outfits over 30 collegiate FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision) teams as well as some of the top high school programs in the country. As part of the agreement adidas will supply product to the Maxwell Football Club for its programs related to the high school, college and professional levels.

We are very excited to partner with adidas as the presenting sponsor of the MFC National High School player of the Year award. We believe that this partnership will offer a tremendous opportunity to impact student athletes on many levels across America. The award has gained a great deal of notoriety on a national scale since its inception and partnering with a company like adidas which is known for putting innovation at the forefront of their business model will only enhance the award's presence.

Mark Wolpert, MFC Executive Director

The Maxwell Football Club and adidas have a rich history with the game of football and this partnership reinforces our commitment to helping athletes get better and continuing to build our footprint in grassroots football.  We're proud to be associated with the longest running football club in the country and we look forward partnering with the MFC to identify the very best High School football player in the country.

The Maxwell Football Club mourns the loss of Robert T. Clark

Robert T. Clark, 79, Director Emeritus of the Maxwell Football Club, passed away on Saturday, April 25 after a brief illness.
Bob was the Executive Director of the Maxwell Football Club for 50 years, retiring in 2009. He oversaw the development of numerous programs that impacted football at all levels. Under his leadership the Maxwell Football Club established a national presence with the Maxwell Award as the top award in the ESPN College Awards show. He was a founding member and officer of the NCFAA (National Collegiate Football Awards Association).
Bob piloted the development of the Chuck Bednarik Award (Collegiate Defensive Player of the Year), the Francis "Reds" Bagnell Award (Contributions to Football), the George Munger Award (Collegiate Coach of the Year), and the "Greasy" Neale Award (Professional Coach of the Year). Mr. Clark also was a key player in the growth of the Maxwell Football Club's High School Scholarship programs in the Philadelphia area and the Tri-State Player and Coach awards.
After his retirement, he received the 2009 Maxwell Football Club "Reds" Bagnell award for contributions to football (see attached program information) and an award was given in his name for Contributions to High School Football. Local recipients of the Robert T. Clark Award included Mike Pettine, Jim Church, and Jim Algeo.
“The contribution that Bob Clark made to the game of football at all levels is immense and his service to the Maxwell Football Club impacted so many young people involved in the game and in the community,” offered MFC president Ron Jaworski. “Bob was always the first person to offer assistance to a person or group in need and his efforts truly epitomize the Club’s mission of developing young people into the future leaders of our country. The Maxwell Club is fortunate to have flourished under Bob’s stewardship for so many years”.
Mr. Clark is in both the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame and the American Football Foundation Hall of Fame. He is a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Flaherty Council 3128 in Glenside, and also served as Treasurer for the City All Star Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.
