Acura Leads the Industry in 2016 Top Safety Pick+ Awards

#Acura has always put safety first—it's one of the things that has put the luxury automaker above many of its competitors in the #Chicagoland area, after all—and we are excited to announce that American Honda is leading the industry with a total of eight #Honda and Acura vehicles earning Top Safety Pick+ awards from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

The #2016AcuraRLX, #2016AcuraILX, #2016AcuraMDX, and #2016AcuraRDX have all earned Top Safety Pick+ awards from the IIHS when equipped with the new AcuraWatch suite of safety and driver assistance features. Included in the AcuraWatch packages are amenities like:

–Forward Collision Warning
–Adaptive Cruise Control
–Collision Mitigation Braking
–Lane Departure Warning
–Lane Keeping Assist

John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co., Inc., spoke for both the Acura and Honda brands, saying, "The fundamental notion of vehicle safety is evolving and with technologies like some of those in Honda Sensing and AcuraWatch, we are pursuing our vision to reduce and, ultimately, to eliminate vehicle collisions."

"This is one of our biggest challenges and an essential element of our commitment to making products that improve the lives of people,” Mendel added.

But how does a vehicle even earn a Top Safety Pick+, and what does it mean if you choose not to add on AcuraWatch to one of these models? Drivers will be happy to know that while the “+” goes away, these vehicles are still rated as Top Safety Picks for their performance in industry standard crash tests. It's adding forward collision warning technology that marks each of these Acura models as something more, something beyond Top Safety Pick.

The safety at the core of the Acura design includes an Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure, a suite of airbags, adaptive head restraints, three-point seat belts, and a standard multi-angle rearview camera for safer backing up and parking.

Let us show you all of the new safety features across the Acura lineup with a new sedan like the RLX or ILX or a new crossover like the RDX or MDX. Visit a Chicagoland Acura Dealer near you to learn more today.

Our 2016 Acura TLX Overview

The entire #Acura lineup has now moved over to the 2016 model year with the debut of the #2016AcuraTLX. The freshest model in the lineup, the #2016TLX is just the second model year for the sedan that replaced the Acura TSX and TL, taking on all of their competition with ease and impressing our #Chicago drivers.

We think the best way for you to see the 2016 Acura TLX is to visit a #Chicagoland Acura Dealer near you for a test drive, but we can offer a quick overview of its amenities and specs to give you an idea of what sets this sport sedan apart from competitors from Audi, Lexus, and Infiniti.

Acura brings back both of the engine options, giving drivers a powerful yet practical 4-cylinder or a fully unleashed V6 engine that shows the track DNA of the TLX. There's not a wrong choice, though there might be one that better fits your needs:

– The standard 2.4L 4-cylinder delivers 206 hp and is mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission engineered for this particular engine.
– The available V6 engine kicks out 290 hp and is paired with a new 9-speed automatic transmission for smooth shifting.

Drivers looking for the control offered by Acura's Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system can find it available on the TLX V6 models, but even if you don't spring for the high-traction drivetrain, Acura's Precision All-Wheel Steer is standard and helps you hug the curves like a pro.

Interior amenities abound on the TLX—so many that we really think you should simply sit behind the wheel and be amazed by them—but some highlights include Siri Eyes Free integration, an electronic gear selector, available camera and radar systems, Bluetooth connectivity, and an available ELS Studio Premium Audio system.

As with the engines, there's really not a wrong choice on the TLX; the basic model is one of the most luxurious sport sedans we've ever seen. The high-end TLX gives its most expensive competitors a run for their money while remaining affordable. See it for yourself at a Chicagoland Acura Dealer today.

2016 Acura RLX Reviews Roll In

The #2016AcuraRLX is available now at #Chicagoland #Acura Dealers, and this new #luxury sedan has so much to offer area drivers. The #2016RLX is already receiving high praise from critics and taking home top safety awards, and we wanted to share them with our #Chicago drivers.

AutoTrader remarked on how the RLX manages to distance itself from competition, saying, “The 2015 Acura RLX puts value into the luxury sedan segment by offering a tempting combination of power, features and comfort. Many of the RLX's competitors lure buyers in with a low base price only to leave them with sticker shock when popular options are added.”

The Car Connection discusses the comfort of the RLX, remarking on its front seating: “True to the RLX's legacy, the front seats fit like broad-backed executive desk chairs. They have 12-way adjustment and standard heating, with ventilation an option.”

Kelley Blue Book breaks down the performance side to this luxury sedan, saying, “For trips across the state or jaunts to the market, the RLX is quiet and solid. Its suspension quells road imperfections and its 3.5-liter V6 is strong and smooth. That's not to say the RLX can't be quick on its feet. Throw it in Sport mode and Acura's luxury sedan raises its pulse noticeably, shifting gears at a higher rpm for quicker acceleration.”

And a luxury car wouldn't be a luxury car without top-notch interior amenities.

– Car and Driver focused on the advanced stereo system which “…spent four years in development. You can hear it in its absolute fidelity at high volume and its level of sonic detail; you notice things in old songs you've never heard before.”
– Popular Mechanics focused on the touchscreen interface: “The multi-touch screen has haptic feedback, which means it buzzes slightly when touched to mimic the feel of a real button. Best of all, this touchscreen responds quickly, so when it switches to a keyboard for navigation inputs, the experience is one of convenience instead of frustration.”

On the awards front, the RLX took home two of the top safety awards in the industry: a Five-Star Overall Vehicle Safety Rating from the NHTSA as well as a Top Safety Pick+ award from the IIHS.

The 2016 Acura RLX is at Chicagoland Acura Dealers

We are excited to announce that the #2016AcuraRLX is available now at a #Chicagoland Acura Dealer near you. The new #RLX represents a significant upgrade from the outgoing #Acura model, and if you're shopping for a new luxury sedan in the greater #Chicago area, you should pay attention to all that it has to offer. The standard 2016 RLX brings many of the successes of the 2015 model back for a second round while also adding a few significant upgrades.

A new set of 19-inch alloy wheels are standard, giving the RLX a sportier look, while the overall ride quality receives an upgrade due to the new suspension and chassis updates. The new #AcuraWatch safety features help make it easier to stay in control and aware of your surroundings while behind the wheel, too.

Acura also added on some new safety amenities, including a rear cross-traffic alert system, road departure mitigations, and a 360-degree camera upgrade. While these state-of-the-art safety features will make a nice addition to the RLX, we know that many of our luxury car shoppers care a bit more about in-vehicle amenities, luxury features, and a powerful engine. And the RLX delivers.

Under the hood is a 3.5L V6 rated at 310 hp and 272 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard, though the RLX Sport Hybrid will be arriving soon and bring a special all-wheel drive system with it.

In the cabin, you'll find standard amenities like leatherette upholstery (with leather seating available), heated front seats, eight-way power-adjustable driver and front passenger seats, a 10-speaker ELS sound system, Bluetooth connectivity, and a built-in satellite-linked navigation unit.

Upgrade options let you step up the sound system to a 14-speaker ELS stereo or add on a Krell premium sound system, and features like adaptive cruise control and remote ignition up the comfort and practicality of the RLX even further.

Let us show you what the 2016 Acura RLX is capable of; visit a Chicagoland Acura Dealer near you today for a test drive. And don't forget to add us to your circles on Google+ to stay up to date on all things Acura.

Acura Makes Fuel Efficient Luxury Cars

The #Acura brand is known among our #Chicago drivers for giving you affordable #LuxuryCars, and part of that affordability can be found in the fuel economy. While there are some luxury automakers who drop gas guzzlers under the hoods of their vehicles, Acura provides drivers with a wide variety of efficient luxury cars, available now at Chicagoland Acura Dealers.

The new #2016AcuraILX is rated at an EPA-estimated 36 highway and 25 city mpg despite its 201-hp 2.4L four-cylinder engine with 180 lb-ft of torque. Acura has aimed for the ILX to be the luxury car that drivers can enjoy well before they hit retirement age, and with a fuel economy like that, Acura looks to be succeeding.

The #2015AcuraTLX is a sport sedan available with two different powertrain options, a 206-hp four-cylinder with 35 highway mpg and 24 city mpg or a 290-hp V6 with 34 highway and 21 city mpg. Exciting and fun to drive yet with a fuel economy that begs for daily joyrides.

Acura also has a pair of luxury crossovers that have fuel economies superior to some full-size sedans on the road:

– The #2016AcuraMDX has a 3.5L V6 engine under the hood with 290 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque, yet this crossover is capable of as much as 27 highway and 20 city mpg.
– The #2016AcuraRDX is a two row crossover that also features a 3.5L V6 engine with 279 hp and 252 lb-ft of torque, earning fuel economy ratings of 29 mpg on the highway and 20 mpg in the city.

Finally, the 2016 Acura RLX sedan is available with both a standard and a hybrid powertrain, earning as much as 32 highway and 28 city mpg.

Some luxury car manufacturers think you need to sacrifice fuel economy in order to deliver memorable performance, but we think Acura proves that wrong. Let us put you behind the wheel of a brand new ILX so that you can see for yourself how a luxury sedan can be both efficient and powerful. Visit a Chicagoland Acura Dealer near you today.

The 2016 Acura RLX Sport Hybrid is on Sale

The #2016AcuraRLX Sport Hybrid has just made its debut on the streets of #Chicago. Available now at #Chicagoland #Acura Dealers, this updated RLX brings a whole new features package to one of the most powerful and intuitive sport sedans on the market.

Standard on all new RLX Sport Hybrid models is the AcuraWatch suite of advanced safety technology that includes amenities like road departure mitigation and cross-traffic monitoring. You can also add on a 360-degree “Surround View” camera system that lets you know everything that's around your RLX before you put it into gear.

Other features on the RLX include perforated Milano leather upholstery, power-adjustable and heated front seating, driver-side memory settings, GPS-linked climate control, and a standard ELS Studio Premium Audio System. With standard navigation, Bluetooth and a touchscreen infotainment system, Acura has made it easy for you to stay connected in the lap of luxury.

As the only luxury sedan boasting a three-motor engine and a torque-vectoring hybrid powertrain, the RLX Sport Hybrid is in a world all its own, capable of 377 hp and 341 lb-ft of torque while combining its unique hybrid design with the Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system for which Acura has become famous. Despite its impressive performance specs, you'll be able to enjoy an EPA-estimated 32 highway mpg.

The hybrid design allows you to send torque directly to the rear wheels from the electric motors for a swifter response, with power generated by your rear inside wheel directed toward the rear outside wheel for “torque vectoring” that gives the RLX a more agile feel as you cruise through a curve.

During poor driving conditions, the system can direct power toward wheels with the greatest traction on the road to help keep you on your course and give you confidence on the road.

The Acura ELS Premium Audio System is a Music Lover's Dream

You may have noticed that many of the #Acura vehicles here at #Chicagoland Acura Dealers can be found with an Acura ELS Premium Audio System, but if you aren't quite sure what sets this surround sound system apart from its competitors, we have an overview of what makes it so special.

#Grammy Award-winning music producer and recording engineer #ElliotScheiner worked with Acura to develop the ELS Premium 10-Speaker Sound System as well as the ELS Studio Premium 14-Speaker Sound System to be up to the highest standards of home audio, leaving competing car audio systems sounding like a pair of old earbuds.

Each ELS system features six discrete and independent channels so that you can easily tell when music is coming from the center, from the front (left or right), from the rear (left or right), or from the subwoofer. Scheiner is considered one of the leading authorities in sound recording and audio mixing, pioneering surround sound while simultaneously setting up a foundation for the technology.

Now, since we are a group of Acura dealerships, you might expect us to prefer Acura's premium sound system, but we aren't alone. #PopularMechanics just recently broke down their Top Ten Cars for #Audiophiles and praised the system, identifying it as a significant improvement over the outgoing Bose stereo.

Whether you want a concert-like listening experience or just like hearing the crispest and clearest highs and lows on your daily soundtrack, Acura has made sure that their lineup can give you the sound system you want thanks to the ELS Premium Audio System.

You can find Elliot Scheiner's custom-designed stereo system on any new Acura model – the ILX, TLX, RLX, RDX, or MDX – so that you can experience studio quality sound in a world-class automobile. The 2016 Acura RLX even includes it as a standard feature.

If you have any questions about the ELS Premium Audio System or want to see what it sounds like when you're in the driver's seat, all you need to do is visit a Chicagoland Acura Dealer near you.

New Details About the 2016 Acura NSX Supercar

If you've been waiting for news on the #2016AcuraNSX #supercar, you're not alone, and our team here at #Chicagoland Acura Dealers is excited to share that #Acura used the 2015 World Congress of the Society of Automotive Engineers to release some key details on the new supercar.

#Chicago drivers have long been fans of the NSX, and even though it's been gone for a while, we know that many of you are excited to hear that twin-turbo V6 engine roar for the first time. The specs are still under wraps, but Acura did disclose that the V6 engine will have a 3.5L displacement and a 75-degree V-angle.

The nine-speed dual-clutch transmission combined with Acura's Sport Hybrid SH-AWD sends power where it's needed, when it's needed. Dynamic torque vectoring helps provide one of the most responsive all-wheel drive systems on the road today.

With twin turbochargers and three electric motors, the NSX needs quite a bit to cool it, and it has a total of ten different heat exchangers—including three radiators just for the 3.5L V6 engine—which is part of why you may have noticed the many functional scoops on the NSX body.

While the initial NSX was one of the first vehicles to be supported by an all-aluminum frame—something the auto world is just now catching up with—the new model is going in a different direction, using high-strength steel and carbon fiber for a more rigid and lightweight design that takes up less space overall. One of the most noticeable advantages can literally be seen from the driver's seat: the ultra high-strength steel A-pillars are skinny enough to give you an incredible view around the vehicle.

The NSX is set to go into production this fall, and you can rest assured that we'll be covering it here and on our blog. Be sure to add us to your circles on Google+ to stay in the loop.

If you want to learn more about the 2016 Acura NSX, all you need to do is visit or contact a Chicagoland Acura Dealer near you.

The 2015 Acura TLX Interior is Winning Awards

The #2015AcuraTLX is already one of the most popular models we have at #Chicagoland Acura Dealers, and if you're looking for a sporty new sedan around #Chicago, you'll have a hard time finding anything that can truly compete.

We're not the only ones who think that this #Acura is one of the most stunning cars on the road; it just recently made Wards list of 10 Best Interiors for the 2015 model year.

From #WardsAuto: “Acura's new TLX sedan represents a cross between two vehicles no longer available: the smaller TSX and more stately TL. The interior carries on Acura's excellent reputation for fit-and-finish.”

While we can't narrow down just which of the TLX's features impressed the team at Wards Auto, we think we have an idea based on the amenities our drivers have become fans of leatherette upholstery, heated front seating, an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

And then there are the high-tech amenities that include Siri Eyes Free functionality, Bluetooth for phone and audio, a rearview camera, two different display screens (an 8-inch display and a 7-inch touchscreen), a seven-speaker stereo system, Aha and Pandora connectivity, and much more.

Of course, the best way to see why the TLX made the list of 10 best interiors is to get behind the wheel and experience it yourself. In fact, that's also how you can see the two different engine options in action.

The four-cylinder engine has 206 hp and 182 lb-ft of torque and is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission with an EPA-estimated 35 highway and 24 city mpg despite its sporty response, and the V6 engine is rated at 290 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a nine-speed automatic, the TLX is good for an EPA-estimated 34 highway and 21 city mpg on front-wheel drive models.

Visit a Chicagoland Acura Dealer near you today to see what the 2015 Acura TLX looks and feels like from the driver's seat; we would be happy to give you a test drive of both the four-cylinder and V6 models.
