Check out this article, Powering Forward on America’s Climate Commitments to see how/why the solar energy revolution will continue to be an economical and environmental solution for residents, businesses and our country.

"There’s a reason the 30-year fixed rate mortgage is the most common financing option for American homeowners. It comes down to two simple words: price certainty. The same concept is driving America’s largest companies to choose renewable energy to power their operations over fossil fuels.

The question is no longer if the transition to a low-carbon economy will occur, but how quickly we embrace the positive opportunities that come with guaranteeing a stable planet for this and future generations."

Did you know...? A coal company in Kentucky is planning a huge solar farm on strip mine! They're focused on two mountaintop-removal mining sites where engineering and feasibility studies are underway for a 50- to 100-megawatt #solar project.

Even the coal industry understands the financial benefit solar offers and will help employ local residents with the solar installation.

Capital & Main just released a story that highlights the differences between publicly-traded solar companies who work to please shareholders and Sullivan Solar Power who is on a mission to fundamentally change the way we generate electricity by making solar advocates.

"Daniel Sullivan brings to the job his background as an electrician and hires workers through International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers hiring halls. He acknowledges that using union labor costs more, but says that what he spends on the front end he saves by only having to do the job once."

Regardless of what's happening in Washington D.C., #solar is here to stay! CleanTechnica lists nine bullet points as to why, and here's one of them: the wind and solar industries employ more people than workers that are employed at coal, oil, and natural gas power plants. Solar employment rose 26 percent in 2016, to a total of 260,077 people, reports the US Department of Energy.

What a great discussion about #SanDiego's #ClimateActionPlan this evening with Assemblymember Todd Gloria, Climate Action Campaign's Nicole Capretz, Sullivan Solar Power's Daniel Sullivan, Cody Hooven from the City of San Diego and Johnathan Adlam of the San Diego Renewable Energy Society (SDRES).

"I wanted the climate plan to include 100 percent renewables. When you set a high bar, people will follow and make it happen," said Assemblymember Todd Gloria.

"We can power our homes and cars with the sun. When people are drilling into the Earth, they are looking in the wrong direction. They need to look up {at the sun}," said Daniel Sullivan.

"I believe that our community and electeds will see that community choice is a better option for us than SDG&E's monopoly. It's not going to be easy but I believe we will win," said Nicole Capretz.

Thank you Young Professionals in Energy San Diego, UC San Diego and the School of Global Policy Strategy for putting on the event as a part of UC San Diego's Earth Month.

Sullivan Solar Power, Climate Action Campaign and Center for Sustainable Energy will be back on campus on April 24 for the UCSD Solar Experience. Details at

Did you know...? The state of California will pay you up to $5,000 for homeowners and businesses to add energy storage with #solar power systems, plus you're able to receive a federal tax credit. These incentives can cover about 90 percent of the cost for energy storage, which allows you to be energy independent!

Today marks the opening of the Self-Incentive Generation Program portal, the state rebate, where registered companies can start the application process. Funds are expected to go fast so it's recommended to get your contract signed so paperwork can begin.

For more information about pairing solar and batteries or to sign up, visit or call 1-800-SULLIVAN.

The Kentucky Coal Mining Museum, nestled in the heart of coal country, is currently having #solar installed on its roof, which will ultimately save thousands in electricity costs.

The museum is located in the small town of Benham, a former coal camp. Now, the town will partially run on solar and the excess power from the museum’s solar project will feed into the town’s grid.

Yesterday, KPBS confirmed Sempra Services lobbyists have been meeting with County Supervisors’ offices. Previously, KPBS reported on Sempra Energy, SDG&E's parent company, was lobbying San Diego city officials on community choice, illegally.

Meanwhile, the L.A. Times revealed that a Sempra gas pipeline is poisoning families in Alabama.

Enough is enough. Let's cut ties with the fossil fuel industry and move to 100 percent renewable energy!
Thank you Climate Action Campaign for being an great partner and for fighting every day for every family’s freedom of clean air, choice, and 100 percent clean energy for all.
