"“By having another language, you have an alternative vision of the world”

Well, duh.  I was a crib bilingual, English/Spanish. Sapir-Whorf effects are not breaking news to me, and I have often wondered when linguists would start catching up with my experience. Looks like they're starting to. Finally.

Alien Lights On Ceres Still Have NASA Dawn Investigators ‘Puzzled’ As Spacecraft Zeroes In On Source

As the NASA Spacecraft, Dawn, creeps up on the mysterious dwarf-planet, Ceres, the bizarre lights that some have suggested show evidence of being an “Alien Space Station” continue to “puzzle” those close to the NASA Ceres exploration program.

New photos taken by the Dawn spacecraft as it drifts in to orbit Ceres have shed new light on the baffling illuminations shining up from the surface of Ceres, reports Space, but confirming the source of the Ceres lights is still a work in progress.

“We already knew from the Hubble Space Telescope that there were bright regions on Ceres,” NASA Dawn spacecraft investigator, Chris Russell of UCLA, said in a statement on NASA Science, Friday.

Russell went on to explain the strange lights on Ceres, and their small point of origin, using fractals, an image or pattern that appears “self-similar” regardless of scale.

Ceres floats within the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, and — large enough to be considered a “dwarf planet” — Ceres is also the largest body among the asteroids, according to Ars Technica.

Though the dazzling lights on Ceres remain a mystery, and possibly signs of an “Alien Space Station,” some alternative speculations for the source of the Ceres lights include ice reflections, volcanic eruptions, or reflections off some other types of minerals that have been found on other asteroids.

At the same time, the Ceres lights remain an enigma, and NASA officials, space aficionados, and UFO enthusiasts are on the edge of their seats waiting to see what else the Dawn spacecraft might be able to reveal as she orbits Ceres.

“As we slowly approach the stage, our eyes transfixed on Ceres and her planetary dance, we find she has beguiled us but left us none the wiser,” said Russell. “We expected to be surprised. We did not expect to be this puzzled.”

Physical realism is the view that the physical world we see is real and exists by itself, alone. Most people think this is self-evident, but physical realism has been struggling with the facts of physics for some time now. The paradoxes that baffled physics last century still baffle it today, and its great hopes of string theory and supersymmetry aren't leading anywhere.

Well, science is science, I suppose. In the event we all need to run, hide, defend ourselves from zombies...yes I said zombies, a team of researchers at Cornell University has determined the best location for doing so..Glacier National Park. It's all about the statistical mechanics of the zombie model. According to the linked CNET article, the authors will present their findings at a meeting of the American Physical Society soon. The lead author, Alex Alemi, said that this study has implications in modeling threatening diseases, as well. I say that I can only hope I never have to consider the day I have to hide my family away in either an invasion of zombies or infectious diseases. However, it is comforting to know someone out there cares about the real things that matter in life just in case.

The meeting abstract is located here, for those interested in learning more. http://meeting.aps.org/Meeting/MAR15/Session/S48.8

When the undead threaten to turn your cerebrum to caviar, where do you run? A new study confirms what you might already suspect, and even offers a specific destination.

Wanderers is a vision of humanity's expansion into the Solar System, based on scientific ideas and concepts of what our future in space might look like, if it ever happens. The locations depicted in the film are digital recreations of actual places in the Solar System, built from real photos and map data where available.
Without any apparent story, other than what you may fill in by yourself, the idea of the film is primarily to show a glimpse of the fantastic and beautiful nature that surrounds us on our neighboring worlds - and above all, how it might appear to us if we were there.

Introduction
In case you've wondered, I hereby assure you that I'm the correct Milan. I'm 100% the one you were looking for.

And because I'm sure I'm the correct one, it turns out that all other Milans are, in fact, completely incorrect (and useless).

Please, if you see anyone else who claims to be Milan, please let them know that they're deeply and sadly wrong, as well as psychopaths.

Embarassing, I know.
Thank you.
