Angel's Share is a great Japanese cocktail bar, hidden away on the second floor of a Japanese izakaya. The bartender is apparently award-winning, or something. Anyway, I'm a lay person in the realm of mixed drinks and don't know even my basics when it comes to distinguishing types of alcohols, but even I could tell these drinks were very expertly crafted- and more importantly, delicious. It's well worth coming here if you can!

Good cocktails, fairly pricey. Go on a weeknight and avoid crowds.

Love the Evidence. Expect 1 hour wait at minimum. Alternatively you can visit it's Whiskey bar on the second floor of Sharaku restaurant next door.

It's a tad costly for most items. But the quality of their mixed drinks is superb. The location has a very different atmosphere from the bustling Japanese restaurant (Village Yokocho) it borders. Dim lighting and jazz music were the predominant themes when I visited. Definitely worth a visit if you've never been into a speakeasy before.

One of the quietest, most innovative cocktail bars in Manhattan. If you're interested in good drinks and want to be able to hear your date/friends - Angel's Share might be your best bet in the East Village. No standing-room and maximum party of 4 - so plan accordingly.

Speakeasy. Harder to find than your average speakeasy: start your search from the street level looking for tall glass panels with drawn curtains. Then look slightly to the right (west) and head up the stairs to the right of panya. It's a cosy speakeasy, definitely a solid date spot. Wait might be long at times to be sure to have a plan B. Tips: *Get the Charlie Brown-- a peanut butter cocktail that had us back for more on the same night.

My favorite cocktail bar in NYC. Quiet, cozy, and expert mixologists. Great selection of delicious and innovative cocktails plus a great selection of single malts organized by region.

Speakeasy inside a Japanese restaurant. Don't come with more than 4 people. Don't be loud.
