Here at Gretna Green Famous Blacksmiths Shop we have welcome a wedding extravaganza! Couples are saying 'I Do' all over the world in the "Good Morning America" "Wide World of Weddings" epic 24-hour, live-stream event, tying the knot in romantic ceremonies across the globe....

Karin Rose and Stephen Berry met in Spain 12 years ago and chose to become part of a living history by marrying over the Famous Anvil in a Gretna Green wedding. Following the ceremony, Karin and Stephen then received a special blessing based on tradition conducted by one of our very own Blacksmiths Guides.

How romantic! Congratuluations to the newlyweds!

Famous for runaway weddings since 1754 Gretna Green is a wonderful place to get married in and visit. The Famous Blacksmiths Shop is steeped in history and has been standing since 1712 making it the earliest venue in the area for weddings. I liked the atmosphere around, however there were a lot of places sealed off due to weddings happening. A truly beautiful destination and very nice to check in.

The museum on the history of marriage, marriage laws and Gretna's role is interesting and it's novel and romantic to renew your vows here, especially with the history of the building. The gentleman that took us through the little ceremony was entertaining, lively and really informative.

Ordered a Harris Tweed handbag from online store which stated was in stock. One week after making payment and waiting on delivery received a short worded email to say it wasn't in stock and refund being sent. Very poor customer service, no option of alternative and over a week later, still waiting on refund. Not the service expected of a well known business.

My beautiful wife and I got married here on the 7th August 2013. I can honestly say from the bottom of my heart, the day was truly magical. Every member of staff from the blacksmiths shop and the smiths hotel were as friendly as could be, and went above and beyond to make our day special. The in house salon was wonderful, the hair and makeup they did for my wife was truly amazing. The ceremony itself was absolutely out of this world and full of tradition and history, and we were made to feel part of that history. The whole story behind the old smith and his anvil was inspiring, and we will definitely be going back for our anniversary. If anyone is considering to elope to Gretna Green then you will not be disappointed with the Old Blacksmiths Shop and the hotel. p.s. If staying at the Smiths Hotel, then I suggest to upgrade to a Bensmoor suite which is directly opposite the shop, where you can hear the bagpipes from other weddings.
