More great writing advice from a terrific writing coach!
Growing up, I loved writing and books. Storytelling in any form was one of my great passions. So when I got to college I was super excited to take creative writing classes. But my first creative wr...

Interestingly enough, NPR had another report on Spain yesterday, talking about the monarchy and specifically, how the tide is changing for King Juan Carlos. He was beloved for so long because of how he stood up for Spain's new democracy, as one of the characters in my book explains in detail, but now, 32 years later and with a grim economic situation, his wasteful antics are not charming. And from the article it's not clear if he's a willing participant in the palace's decision to give up his 27 million Euro yacht. Here's the full story: http://www.npr.org/blogs/parallels/2013/06/05/187990667/with-safaris-and-yachts-spanish-king-comes-under-fire
This is really cool—my novel is set in Santander, and this city was just featured on NPR. I first went to Santander in 1986 to visit my roommate over winter break. Blanca was a small framed girl who wore large glasses an...

Introduction

It's been a long time coming, this dream of mine, but I am finally seeing it through: I am a novelist. The first two novels, Bueno and Sinco, have been published, and the third will be out in September, 2014.

What are they about? I thought you'd never ask! They're about this guy, an American man from Houston, whose brother died in Spain, and in dealing with his grief, he decides to move there. He gets a job at an American School (a private school where the lessons are taught in English) and, poor guy, he runs into A LOT of trouble with the teachers he is supposed to be managing. So, in the series we follow his new life, and get to know the other teachers at the school. We see what it's like to live in Spain, and tag along when he meets Carmen who becomes his girlfriend...it's a really nice story, one in which you really get to know and love the characters. Fans are saying great things about the books. Have a look: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00I3PRPA2

Bragging rights
Bueno, book 1, and Sinco, book 2, of the Cantabria American School series. On a side note, I also wrote Grammy and the Wily Raccoon, perfect for 3 year olds.
