Depending on the hula school, many of the young girls start dancing hula at the age of five. This is Jasmine’s very first hula skirt.

It was made by Juliet twenty years ago from ti leaf and thick cordage. I remember hanging it up in my shop after it turned brown and was no longer useable for the stage. It sat on the wall for two decades until we move into our new location on the cutting edge of Old Kapa`a Town. Her big brother made a frame for it out of old pallets.

It’s got a nice spot under the light up high in our store. Proudly displaying our love for the Hawaiian culture, our daughter’s hula skirt and what makes us special in this place that we love.

Today is the Easter Parade for Kids Pre School. This is when the little Bunnies will be traveling through Old Kapaa Town to visit some of the shops and stores to receive treats from the many small business.

This is one of the many reasons we loved our move to Kapa’a. There is more of a community feeling here. Filled with Mom and Pop stores, our new location puts us in where we belong.

In just a few hours, they will be here. Time to get ready.
