Because... a tiny tot named titus making trick shots is just too much adorable alliteration to pass up.
Apparently my parents were the wrong ones this entire time.

I hope you went down to watch!  It's great to see a city do something like that for him.

In 1998, during a staff meeting at my first off-white collar job, tele-fundraising for arts programming in neglected city schools, someone brought up President Bill Clinton. I rolled my 20-year-old eyes and said, “Like he ever did anything for poor kids.” The woman sitting to my right, who got under folks’ skin in such a way that the phrase I’m not going to jail for her was often uttered, stepped to his defense.

I'm not sure if even most middle-class americans could be described this way, but, for a variety of reasons, namely education and access to media outlets, the poor have a difficult task in terms of eloquently describing what it really means to be poor.  I don't remember who said it, but I am reminded of the quote that "being poor means knowing exactly how much everything costs"

Sadly, as unemployment remains high and the recession drags on, I fear more and more people are going to get a first hand instruction in how true those words are.

(warning, political opinion: Now it is time to do something about it, and cutting food stamps is definitely not the solution)

I have worked with almost all of these at some point or another (and probably been one or two of them myself)

The MarkedUp Analytics team had some fun over the past couple of weeks sharing horror stories about software atrocities and the real-life inspirations for the things you read on The Daily WTF. In particular, we talked about bad apples who joined our development teams over the years and proceeded ...

An English IKEA decided to release 100 live cats overnight. Why? Why would you question such a thing? The video is the most amazing and life-affirming event. Ever. Embrace it. Watch it a thousand times. Watch it ten thousand times.

TL;DR? Why not just go watch another five second video of a kitten with it’s head in a toilet roll, or a 140 character description of a meal …

It's difficult for geologists to witness the flow of lava on snow- and ice-covered volcanos, so researchers with the Syracuse University Lava Project decided to create their own simulation, melting 300 kg of lava and pouring it over ice to watch the effects.
