What happens when books go into public domain? More new copies of them are sold.

Here is a graph of a random selection of new fiction books for sale on the main Amazon site (no associates), showing that for instance there are more books released for sale from the (now copyright free) 1850s than the 1950s.

Conclusion: good things happen FOR PUBLISHERS -- and readers -- when books enter the public domain.
