Royal and Regal have been with EHS since October 3, 2016.
Our wish for the New Year is that these two gentle souls will find the forever home they deserve.
We have hope. Our couple are gentle, beautiful souls who don't give their trust easily. They need people who have time and patience. People who can give them the guidance and care they deserve.
Please contact mgy.ehs@gmail.com if you're that person.
These two were rescued from destitution and squalor on the streets of Taiwan. Coming to Canada they now have a chance to thrive and are doing just that. The last leg of their long journey is finding a forever home.
Once they settle into that life they can begin a new journey with their forever family. One that includes all the stuff lovely doggos dream of - liver treats and long walks on the beach.
They have come so far and EHS will continue with the quest to find them the perfect home. We are resolved to do so.

This holiday season, help ensure that homeless animals in our community receive the love and care they deserve by donating to the Etobicoke Humane Society; a 100% volunteer run, 100% donation based no-kill shelter. Thanks to your generosity in 2016, we found forever homes for 76 dogs and 234 cats.

Tuna was rescued from a warehouse in 2015. Months after adoption, his
owner wanted to give him back. As we made arrangements to take him into
our care, we were informed that his owners had given him away over the
internet. Recently, we were contacted by a woman who had trapped a stray
cat; alone and starving outside. Our Tuna had come back to us. This past
October, Tuna was adopted and finally went to his true forever home.

Our lovebirds, Royal and Regal, were found living in a construction site.
Soon after they arrived at EHS, it became obvious that separating this loving
couple wasn’t an option. Royal refused to eat without Regal by his side. These
two have been with us for over a year now and are waiting patiently to find
a forever home where they can be together.

We're thrilled to introduce you to our very own Warrior Princess, Xena.

Xena was found wandering the streets without her natural defences, as she is declawed, and taken into a kill-shelter. There she was a spitfire showing everyone her displeasure at being confined.

She's approximately 2-years-old, declawed and believed to be a Bengal mix. Whether due to stress, over grooming or improper nutrition she has suffered some fur loss. Since escaping the mean streets her fur has begun to grow back. She is healthy, spayed, active and affectionate.

Her foster Mom says she's cuddly and likes to hang around her especially at night. She's a curious, young kitty who loves to explore.

Due to her drama queen temperament, we are looking for a home with no other cats. Sorry, no plucky sidekick for this Warrior Princess.

Please note she is in Foster and will remain there until she is adopted.

For information on the adoption process or details on adopting Xena please email cats@etobicokehumanesociety.com or visit

We are currently accepting on-line applications for Cory. We recommend you come to visit him prior to submitting an application as this is the first step in the adoption process. Visiting hours are 10:30-11:00 and 2:00-4:00 or by appointment after hours by emailing mgy.ehs@gmail.com.

Meet Cory, a 3 year old Malamute Husky mix that could be mistaken for a polar bear! Cory is a friendly, affectionate guy that sometimes thinks he's a lap dog. He loves to be close to people and prefers not to be left alone for long. This fella is playful and happy - he loves to go for walks or play with his stuffy toys. Cory walks well on a lead but he is a big guy and will go after squirrels. He gets along well with most other dogs, and loves to go for car rides. He is not suited for a home with cats. Otherwise, Cory is healthy, neutered and up to date on his shots.

Cory requires a human that is experienced with large breed dogs. He likes to be outside so a home with a fenced in yard is a must. NO cats or other small animals. No children under 12. Please be advised that we will only process applications that meet the criteria we are looking for.

For more information regarding the EHS adoption process please visit our website, or if you have any questions email mgy.ehs@gmail.com

Having a blanket to snuggle can make a difference in a shelter dog’s life. Blankets provide comfort and a sense of security, which helps a dog feel their best. Do you know a shelter whose dogs (and cats!) could use some big, fleecy blankets?
Nominate them here: http://contest.earthrated.com/blankets/
A very special thanks to the Etobicoke Humane Society for helping make this video possible.
