#chromebook A very unemotional and practical review of the Samsung Chromebook. The conclusion of the review is:

'Taking the price tag on the high-end netbook, its performance and user interface and overall its usability, alongside taking into account how good the product is compared to current netbooks on the market, we award the following:

HardwareLOOK awards the Samsung Chromebook Series 5 netbook an 8/10 Silver Award.'

My new Samsung #chromebook arrived today from Amazon.

Before ordering I was a bit concerned about potential performance issues. I was advised against a netbook due to the windows overhead giving performance issues. I decided I would not wait for the next generation of chromebook which probably will not be available in Europe until later this year.

How do I feel about my chromebook after the first day? Absolutely great, I love it!!

I had tabs for gmail, google docs, G+, a 7 person hangout, facebook (oops sorry!) and search all open concurrently. Moving/working across the tabs, downloading a document etc without any noticeable problems with the hangout.

It was very well packaged for delivery. Plugged in the power, opened the lid, entered my wifi pass code, logged onto my google account, waited about 5 minutes for the update from #chromeos v12 to the current v17 and then the initialisation was complete. Now it virtually instantaneously fires back up after going to sleep.

Were there any niggles? Yes a couple, but all due to my unfamiliarity with the device and not due to any deficiencies with the chromebook. I get the impression that the earlier significant well reported bugs have been fixed. (When s/w reaches v17 then there is a justifiable assumption that a good level of stability has been achieved).

After an initial several hours of use I absolutely love it. It does exactly what I want and would strongly recommend as a internet google device.

I've used Scalextric before, but NEVER have I seen slot car racing this fast and disorientating. Watch this video and have your tiny little mind blown, just like me.

Nice high quality video shots of the Mini Transat start. (Half expected to see Sergio Leone and Clint Eastwood on the production credits at the end!)
