Story

Memphis-based freelance writer, editor + author of 100 Things To Do in Memphis Before You Die
Introduction
Around Memphis, people know me as the author of 100 Things To Do in Memphis Before You Diea travel guide/love letter to my adopted hometown. Since its release in May 2014, it's helped people from Memphis to Japan explore what's to love about this magical, musical city, and I'm thrilled to announce it's coming around for a second edition in 2016. Check back here for online ordering and a list of local retailers that are kind enough to carry it.

If, like me, you just can't get enough of Memphis, read my digital features at MemphisTravel.com and download or pick up your free copy of the Memphis Map & Tourist Guide or Memphis Destination & Sports Planning Guide. You can also follow me as the Memphis Insider for Virgin Atlantic's Flying in the Face of Ordinary blog, and soon, as a Memphis feature writer for Delta Sky Magazine.

Say you want to ramble through West Tennessee. My Hometown Tourist archives for WREG-News Channel 3's Live at Nine are full of outdoor and family adventures (view a sampling below). Want to trek across Tennessee? Read my annual features in the official Tennessee Vacation Guide To create your own epic Southern road trip, follow my itineraries at TravelSouthUSA.com

When I'm not writing about the American South, I freelance for destination marketing organizations across the U.S., including Brand USA. In fact, I just wrapped editing and writing for Flavors of the USA, a culinary travel guide and website aimed at enticing international visitors to experience our country through food.

Try something different this Memphis in May...maybe Visible's free music fest on 5/9 or the Al Sprague exhibit at Joysmith Gallery running through the end of May?
Memphis in May International Festival began in 1977 as a cultural exchange between Memphis and the world. Today, it’s a month-long multicultural party stoked famously by Beale Street Music Festival and the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest. It’s coming. Here’s what … Continue reading →

Catch JOSEPH at The Orpheum through 4/27, and hear what cast members Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young have to say about living in Tennessee in my Q&A with them here.
Y’all know I love hanging out at The Peabody, whether I’m checking in with my favorite Duckmaster or sharing a late-night dessert with my hubby (more on that in my book, due out next month). Today, I hit The Peabody … Continue reading →

Background music at Cafe Eclectic is spot-on this morning: First Otis Redding; now Al Green. Did you catch my guest post for I Love Memphis about the trumpeter who backed them both?

Personable, thoughtful doctor and friendly staff in a beautiful office. Highly recommend.

The historic neighborhood setting put us within walking distance of excellent restaurants and nearly all of the activities we had planned. The house & grounds (with onsite parking -- score) were immaculate. Nick, our friendly host, made a mean pot of coffee and avocado-and-egg toast for breakfast. One of our best B&B stays yet in an intriguing, progressive city.
