Disappointed. I expected to have the best sushi and dinner I have ever had and didn't. It was very good but have had much better at smaller, less well known sushi restaurants. Also the building seems to be getting old. Needs a good cleaning and some fresh paint.

Fancy sushi restaurant attached to Chelsea Market. I went here for restaurant week and was not disappointed. The lunch menu came with miso soup and kimchi cucumbers. The sashimi was, as you'd expect, top of the line. However, it was the coffee dessert that wowed me. It was sweet tofu topped with gelato, whipped cream, and toffee crumble. The mix of flavors and textures had be savoring each bite.

The experience was just as good if not better than the food, which was also top notch. My wife and I went for our wedding anniversary and did the Omakase dinner. It felt as if you were eating beautiful works of art taken off the walls of the museum of deliciousness. The spicy tequila drink was equally as pleasing. As amazing as the dinner was do your self a favor and go to the bathroom downstairs. It is easily one of the coolest bathrooms in NYC. They have the fully automated toto(?) toilets with a remote control and a lotus flower infinity mirror wall in the stall. Make sure you check it out.

It's hard not to like Morimoto. The restaurant is really nice and spacious which seems to be a rarity in NYC, so big groups are welcome. Their service is second to none and the food is exceptional. Some stand out dishes for me were the Spicy King Crab and the Octopus Carpaccio appetizers. As for the sushi I opted to go for their fatty and medium-fatty tuna and that's where I realized the drawbacks of ordering fine cuts of fresh fish at a place this big. By the time the sushi was prepared and finally brought across the tundra that is this big restaurant to my table it looked like it had been dried out a bit. My recommendation if you're going to have sushi is to do it at the bar or another place altogether, else just stick with their other dishes, especially when you're paying this much for it.

I am a native New Yorker and will keep to the directness of how we are known to be :) Food: Excellent! Famed Morimoto offers an exceptional menu! I recommend the Negitoro Roll and the Roasted Maine Lobster. Drinks: Great sake. Space: Beautiful high-ceiling elegant, clean sharp design, very stunning and modern setting. The main dining area is exquisitely designed matching the exquisite dining experience. Scene: People watching. Romantic. Great place to bring a date, impress your significant other, or celebrate a special occasion. Great for date night or get-togethers. Service: Excellent! Very courteous & professional.

As a vegetarian, I didn't expect much. However, I was blown away by the quality of the food, and by the ambiance and service. I saw tofu being made, right in front of me at the table. It's really quite the experience!
