Earth is Our Home
Below is a new preschooler short I did for Mother Goose Club, "Earth Is Our Home". I was handed a pretty loose outline for this one and was given a bit more freedom. So in addition to my usual storyboard, animation, comp, and edit duties I also wrote it. As...

Japan and the United States, the bitterest of enemies during World War II, are now among the closest of allies. But for an Iwo Jima vet and an Okinawa schoolgirl who experienced the war's darkest moments in separate, back-to-back battles hundreds of miles apart, it's never been easy to reconcile the hatred of the past with the peace of the present.
ITOMAN, Japan (AP) — In Norman Baker's mind, the Japanese were fanatical, brutal animals with no respect for life. To Yoshiko Shimabukuro, Americans were long-nosed demons who rained hellfire from the skies before raping…

Chrome, I'm about to leave you. Just sluggish as hell on the Desktop for no reason.

"Its tedious" "its not fun" and my personal favorite, "its certainly not expressive". +Adobe , this is completely insulting and ill informed. The piece of software is total garbage. Instead of beefing up the animation package you currently have, Flash (which is also a piece of garbage), you are wasting time with this.

All software has it's downsides, but toonboom at least updates it's problems or tries to find a solution.  I remember the first 4 months flash CC was released it was unusable so I made the jump to toonboom.  The brush is great, I like the workflow.  And it's still catered to those who use 2d Rigs but I think the cel animation ability covers what it needs to be.  I don't know how adobe got away with that garbage brush tool for all this time though.

"It seems that having an in-house animation shop such as Soup2Nuts was not cost effective for Scholastic, which can contract animation work from cheaper and smaller independent studios."

Also known as "slave labor sweat shops". I mean hey, who doesn't want next-to-free content you can exploit for all eternity? I've worked for Soup2Nuts in the past a few times and they are good people. Hopefully they'll land on their feet.

I shared the pose test for this a little while ago, but Aaron fully inbetweened it in this new version. One of my favorite phrases in this is "holding on TIGHT". It's such a small, subtle movement on "tight", but it makes all the difference.

Yup yup! Yeah, Aaron does really nice stuff. He's apparently working on some how-to animation videos that I'm sure will be worth checking out.

I spent some time BETA testing two of the new versions of Harmony 12 last month. I was really impressed with the new bitmap brushes, so I made a little assignment for myself to use them a bit more extensively. I wanted to do some traditional animation with them. For lack of coming up with anything original, I did this knock-off version of Ryu from Street Fighter. I really just wanted to show someone throwing a fireball, and as I worked he slowly became more-and-more Ryu-like. So he's not quite Ryu. He's Fake Ryu.

Pretty rad. Gotta give the guy credit for sticking to it for over four years. Spread the love.

I might have to watch more C_SPAN now.

Wow.
In an Internet world ruled by clickbait, C-SPAN chooses to avoid hyperbole.

I called up needing a repair job for my washing machine. The lady tells me that she can find a serviceman for the day and sets up an appointment for me. About an hour later I get a phone call from a totally different person who says that in order for the repairman to come out I would need to give them my credit card info, otherwise the service call would be cancelled. I told him I will not give him my credit card info prior to the job being done. Its just the silliest thing I ever heard. Finally, I just discovered the address listed here is for the Caldwell Diner. Scam.
