I liked this place but I wanted to LOVE it..like LOURVE it so hardcore that I was trying to go back every weekend. The hostess was hilarious and very friendly. I enjoyed my grilled cheese with tomato soup and I shared a side of Brussels sprouts. What I didn't like: there is a lot of inflexibility in the menu - I didn't like that certain sandwiches came with salad and another with soup there were no side options written on the menu and we only found out that they did sides of sprouts after seeing another table with them their Michelada wasn't very good Next time I would probably go for their craft beer of which they have an intense variety. I would probably also go here after brunch or eating somewhere else because our entire party was still hungry post meal

Disclaimer - I don't' like cheese nor grilled cheese so going in the menu wasn't enticing. I went there for breakfast and got the layered potato cake and eggs. The eggs were way to salty and the potato cake felt like a chore by the end. There's a nice selection of beers and coffees and almost everyone in there seems to be on their mac feigning doing work. The entire time I felt like I wasn't "cool" enough to be there and it had a bit of a cold vibe. This might be a cool place to visit if you're in the neighborhood but not worth a separate trip.

I have been to The Queens Kickshaw a few times now and every time I go there are new things on the menu. The mac and cheese is very good and the desserts and tea are delicious. This is a nice atmosphere if you want to relax or catch up with friends. The lighting is dim and it is always bustling with people.

This place has ice coffee growlers! i.e. the closest thing I've seen to hipster Queens except with friendlier staff. I'm always going for the layered potato cake with sunny side eggs here, but I hear the biscuits and gravy are popular and sell out quick. A lot of other customers also seemed to be getting the four cheese omelet. If you come in the afternoon for brunch like I did, it's much quieter and relaxed than earlier in the day. Making for a perfect place to read, write, and people watch without getting kicked out.

I really didn't have any expectations for this place- I just happened to be in Astoria- but it delightfully surprised me. Had the Gouda Grilled Cheese (I'm a sucker for jalapeño anything) with a side of tomato soup- excellent. I also split the layered potato cake and the fingerling potato poutine which ended up being too much food! Overall, very cool place with some good food!

This a great place to hang out if your group is going here for coffee or beers along with small plate items. They have different menus for different times of the day which can be quite confusing. I would say come here for drinks and small plate snack items but probably not the best for brunch or dinner. Try not to come with large groups because it's not the biggest location. I would definitely make this a local hot spot.
