Went in to take a look (like I did at every other bike shop in town) hoping to find 'the one' (went with the Sirrus Elite on sale in SF) They had a full selection of bikes, very friendly/knowledgeable staff, fair prices, and plenty of locations in case I need service. It was the follow-up service (in Berkeley, fast turn-around time) that really sold me on the experience. Also, the staff are serious city riders; members of the authentic bike scene. Highly recommended!

Excellent selection for Specialized bikes and gear. The staff is super helpful and knowledgable. If you buy a bike, get the service plan they offer, which takes care of all your basic tune ups. You can also have a bike fit done.

I had been recommended by a friend to purchase a bike at Mike's Bike and also have read so many great reviews about this place. But I am disappointed by the service I received. I wanted to a purchase a bike online but read that if I wanted it to be delivered I would have to go to the store. So I went to the store on Saturday and showed Sam a picture of the 2016 specialized crossroads bike. He was very nice and told me that if I picked up the bike from the sore It would be $100 cheaper. What a deal!!! This was even better than I thought. He told me the bike would be ready on Tuesday because it needed to be shipped from their Berkeley store. Come Tuesday, I went to the store to pick up my bike. Sam was there and he checked my receipt and went to the back to get the bike. He came back and told me there was good news and bad news. He said the bad news is the bike is not here. And it wouldn't be there until Monday. The good news is that they would give me a newer edition of the bike. A 2016 specialized crossroads bike. I told him that I bought the 2016 specialized bike. He told me No, I had bought the 2015 bike and they were going to give me the 2016 bike. I didn't argue anymore because I was already upset that I had cancelled plans to pick up the bike and I was going to have it today. I had called the store the next day to talk to the manager about my experience. I was connected to Sam. I told Sam that I was not happy because I had taken time out my schedule to pick the bike up and also why wasn't I called if the bike didn't show up? He said that there is nothing he could do. It was the Berkeley's store fault that they didn't include it in the days shipment. I had asked him if there was a way to have my bike sooner than Monday because it was almost a whole week later. He said that none of the stores have that bike and that they are receiving the bike from the factory. I had asked if there was a way for the bike to be delivered to my house so I don't have to travel all the way to the store. He told me unless I want to build it myself, I would have to pick up the bike from the store. I had received a call on Tuesday that my bike was ready to be picked up. I came in today to pick up my bike. The bike looked great and the attendant was able to give me instructions on how to use my bike rack. But the bike I was given wasn't 2016 specialized crossroads bike as promised. It was the 2015 older version. This type of customer service is ridiculous, especially from a manager. I believe that a respectable establishment would treat each customer with five star service and fulfill their promises. I'm upset that this occurred. And I do not recommend this place to anyone.

I give low rating due to premium pricing. Otherwise this shop is just fine. This shop was never inexpensive, but their prices Rose to reflect the prosperity of the tech boom. They have great products, nice bikes etc however the pricing would infer that they'd come gold plated!! They don't!!

Ever since I moved back to the Bay Area I've wanted to check out mike's. I've heard good things but I've always hit bike shops closer to my place. Now, I've been a cyclist for 20 years and I've had my fair share of unfriendly bike/ inexperienced bike salesmen and mechanics. So it's only natural to take matters into your own hands by being your own mechanic. To start, the salesman was very unfriendly, I felt like he'd sized me up the second I walked in. I was just in to buy tubes and was literally "guff'd" at. If I hadn't needed tubes so bad I would have left without purchase. Shortly after this event, a friend of mine went in for a sale and was shown a picture of a bike he had ordered. A specialized male bike. He was told the bike would be in within a week and the bike took almost two months to come to the store. Not only that, but the bike was the female model. I really had hoped Mike's was an awesome bike shop but I wouldn't recommend Mike's Bikes.

I had the worse bike tune up experience. Overall I had to come back to the shop three times after discovering something wrong with my freshly tuned up bicycle. those were not small things - at one occasion front gear shifter was not working at another my break pad fell off during the ride. The staff was nice and polite, but that does not change the fact that I wasted a lot of time and money.

Went in for a bike box. They literally had 8 boxes folded up for recycling and the mustached jaded hippster mechanic claimed that they were not allowed to not recycle and that i couldnt have a used box. Isnt re-using a bike box the definition of recycling? So tired of how un friendly and condescending these guys treat customers. Take your business to a shop where even if they cant help you, they appreciate the fact that you are in their store. Mikes just makes me want to buy everything online where they cant compete on pricing.
