The paste of the pelmeni and vrenyky was too thick , which SHOULD NOT BE, the portion was too small, like 5 pieces. Borsch was ok but it could be much better (as ukrainian i know it for sure). Beef stroganoff was a disaster, meat was old and smelly, the mushroom sous tasted like soap. Finally the wine had a vinegar back taste. The place is much overpriced. I would not recommend it at all.

Pricey but food was delicious (prix fixe menu is a good deal) - really extensive vodka menu if you like that - portions are small but filling. Best dessert is the banana foster - the waiter cooks it in front of you - be prepared to see bananas catch on fire haha :) Still, Firebird is a classy but cozy restaurant with good food and service.

As a previous reviewer wrote, there's not enough room to write what an awful experience this was. We had a Groupon coupon - as did many others - and were treated so rudely. We waited one hour for our appetizer ... had to ask for water, bread and even that we wanted to order more food. I don't even want to continue ... they are just rude and inept and they don't even know it. The waiter even had the gall to ask if he'd done something wrong.

this gem with its opulent upstairs has seen better days. closes early, and people now miss the russian songstress and the cozy cabaret room.

Ok- I went here nervous b.c i read the reviews before and well the reviews were right! This place was horrible. I had a groupon and got the seafood tower and wanted to vomit afterwards, First off, its a seafood plate! And everything tastes frozen. No amount of vodka could help. #grouponfail

Wow: the service is jaw-droppingly bad here. There isn't enough space here to recount all the service lapses - in a virtually empty restaurant. The food is fine, but quality and quantity don't come close to justifying these prices. Seriously, this place needs a complete reset. For a much better Russian experience in the theater district, head up 8th Ave. to 52nd and go to Russian Samovar. We did.

We really enjoyed the overly ornate décor and the stiffness of the waiters. You can’t go wrong with the chicken kiev and the honey vodka.

Although the food was nothing special the service was excellent! I believe my friend and I were among about 6 guests however and that could have been the reason behind the available attention. Great vodka, if I ever do go back, I'd probably just go to the bar.
