I found a somewhat major bug in the gradle plugin: if a instrumentation test run fails in a @BeforeClass or @AfterClass method (or really, any part of execution that isn't explicitly part of a test method), some of the tests are not run, but the build is reported as successful.

This has been plaguing our team for a couple months now and we finally managed to find the right place to make the fix. Can someone take a look at my patch? https://android-review.googlesource.com/#/c/163050/

We've had to work around the issue by building a custom snapshot of the plugin that includes the fix, and we'd like to be able to drop that and get back to stock as soon as possible.

I'm trying to come up with a way to measure and report the performance of gradle commands run from Android Studio (how long does a clean build take, incremental build, running tests, etc). Does anyone know of a good way to do this? I'd like to be able to measure which commands are run, as well as how long they take.

Have you guys thought about making transcripts for the Android Developers Backstage podcasts? I frequently find myself wanting to refer someone to something you've talked about and then I can never find the right episode and location in the audio. It'd be super nice to be able to search!

Searching…
The material design spec says¹ that “transitioning between two visual states should be clear, smooth and effortless and not confuse the user”.  That's why when I came across this shot² on dribbble I thought it was a pretty funky way to transition from a search icon to a search field.  I then thought that with AnimatedVectorDrawable's³ ability to animate paths, this would be simple.  +Chris Banes said I was crazy so then I had to make it to prove him wrong.

Something seems to have changed in Feedly Beta and I've lost my unread color and articles are much bigger...if this is a bug, consider this post my bug report. If it was intentional, consider this post my plea to go back to the old way. I see absolutely no benefit to the new display.
