I've stayed both here and the nearby Gansevoort. Personally I prefer the rooms here at the Dream, but for the price paid I did feel there should be a coffee machine or kettle for making tea in the middle of the night with jetlag. During the week it's a calm place even with a top DJ playing, but come the weekend the bedrooms became party zones with pillow fights, loud music, drunk people rolling into each others rooms, so if you want to join then its a good place, but if you want some sleep before an early Sunday morning flight to UK, its probably better to move to an airport hotel.

This was my 28th time visiting NYC and I was anxious to try out Dream Downtown and experience staying in the revived Chelsea neighborhood. Based on the pictures of the facility, Dream looked like a very comfortable, spacious, and hip place to stay. Unfortunately, the best part about the hotel are the pictures on the website which grossly exaggerate the property across the board. It is very dark and uninviting when you arrive and the staff that checked us in seemed annoyed and condescending when any questions were asked. The primary hotel bar was tiny at best and drinks were grossly overpriced even by NYC standards.......if you ever got waited on. The room was far from clean and smelled musty the entire stay. The 'trendy' lighting system is just downright annoying and the bathroom door has no knob or lock, just a 'hip' hole that eliminates privacy. Obviously, someone thought this would 'cool,' but it's simply annoying. Add to the fact that a large group of 'musicians' from around were staying in the hotel and you have a loud, dirty, and mismanaged environment not conducive to anyone trying to enjoy their stay. Nothing against literally hundreds of 'musicians' staying at a hotel, but the staff needs to manage and organize it much better. For example, twice, we got to enjoy watching people puking the lobby and once right outside the front doors. Don't let the website pictures or previous reviews fool you, there are ALOT better options in midtown!

It's a very hip hotel and perhaps tries a bit too hard to be hip. The rooms are a bit on the small side but they've definitely made an effort to decorate well. My biggest complaint was that we got charged like $9 a bottle for what we're pretty sure was tap water. Also the buttons on the elevators are a joke and rarely work well

I went to PHD night club and it was amazing. Awesome view with great service and celebrities present. A little pricey but worth it.

Everything is very circular in this hotel, an underwater/futuristic motif. This is what everything will look like in the future once NYC is underwater due to climate change. Very trendy. Got free drink vouchers at check in so that was really nice. Also close to Google nyc. Overall A+.

Fantastic rooftop bar with a view. Also check out the US flag made out of beer cans in the lobby. And yes, the rooms do have crazy circle windows, pretty cool.

Excellent location, nice and cool hotel. I assume that because they are just in front of Google and Youtube offices they don't have a problem with occupancy and that is reflected in the quality of the service. Paying $500+ for a night and still have to call two o three times Each Day to get Ice to the room (they don't have Ice machines in the floor) its ridiculous.

Very chic and modern. Walking into my hotel room for the first time felt like walking into a trendy bar. Possibly due to the music playing. The bed was amazing, it felt like sleeping on a cloud. Hotel staff were extremely polite and helpful. That being said, I'm a pretty low maintenance guest who didn't need to call on them often. The lobby was a cool place to chill during the day and could get busy at night. The rooftop bar offered amazing views and expensive drinks. About $40 for a mojito and flavored vodka but given the lack of cover charge I wasn't too bothered. Despite the packed bar at 2am, one of the bartenders remembered what we were drinking, so points to him. I'm not often in New York, but I would definitely consider staying here again.
