If you want stunning views of the mountains without the strain of a long hike, Wayah Bald Lookout Tower is just what you’re looking for. The Appalachian and Bartram trails both pass by the tower for more adventurous hikers, so anyone can stop and enjoy the overlook and view of the valley below.

Join with us in Franklin, NC as we celebrate our quilting heritage during Airing of the Quilts. There are many, many inside locations to visit should we have the misfortune of a rainy day. The only thing affected will be the hanging of the quilts outdoors. Airing of the Quilts is always held Mother's Day Weekend.

Visit Gilespie Chapel, Pleasant Hill Church, The Unitarian Fellowship, Historic Rickman Store, Old Cowee School, Oak Hill B & B, view the quilt display in the windows of the old Macon Furniture Mart, the local quilt shops and of course - the two lectures at Franklin town hall. Friday May 10 at 6:00 PM - Lecture and slide show with Suzi Parron author of the book "Barn Quilts and the American Quilt Trail Movement", and Saturday at 12:00 "Ken the Quilt Guy" trunk show and presentation on Civil War era quilts. Also - schedule an appointment for an appraisal on either Friday or Saturday.

The Whistle Stop Mall will also be airing the "World's Largest Quilt" along with quilts displayed throughout the mall. Hours are from 10:00am to 5:00pm.
